Teenage boy teases shark, gets bitten
Updated 6 hours 37 minutes ago A teenager has been flown to Perth for surgery after being bitten by a shark he enticed towards the shore. The boy was bitten on the left heel while he was cleaning fish at Red Bluff, 140 kilometres north of Carnarvon, about 9:00pm. The manager of a nearby campsite, Bec Caldwell, says the teenager used the frame of a fish to entice the one-metre reef shark towards him. She says the boy was bitten when he was knocked over by a wave. "[There were] heaps of people on the beach, heaps of kids in the water," she said. "It was pretty silly, really, that people were feeding sharks while there was other kids around. "So hopefully this will teach people a lesson not do silly things." The teenage boy spent the night in the town's hospital and is being transferred to Perth by the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Another man was bitten on the finger by a reef shark today when he put his hand into its mouth to pose for a photo. http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2...24/3199257.htm

I know I shouldn't, but I laughed. Some people do not, and most probably will never, get it...

And no doubt there will be a Lawyer who will find someone negligible because there were no signs saying 'danger, do not play with sharks'.

in case you dont know, red bluff is in the middle of no where, a long bumpy 4wd drive to Carnarvon...
Making his little adventure all the more stupid, a good enough wound and you'd bleed to death long before you saw a doctor.

I'm appalled at the cruel and callous comments. The poor dear boy should at least be given a mask and snorkel so that he could get an appreciation of the wonders of the deep.
Perhaps a well-stuffed burley bag tied to his ankle would encourage cute little fishes to nibble off the scar tissue on his heel. Sardine oil is good for the skin too. |

Just gets better and better -
'A woman has suffered a suspected broken nose after the bus she was travelling in, south of Newcastle, was pelted with rocks and eggs. The bus came under attack about 10.30pm (AEST) on Sunday, as it headed south on the Pacific Highway, near the intersection with South Street at Bennetts Green. One of the rocks smashed a window and hit a 19-year-old female passenger in the face. The bus driver told police that about 10 youths, all aged about 10 years old, stood on the side of the road and threw the projectiles.' http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-...ed-with-rocks/ There's something about women getting smashed in the face that I find a tad annoying .......... |
