G'day all.
We had the lower idler pulley fail in the AUII wagon a few months ago, and were recommended to do the upper pulley and replace the fan belt at next service. Went to Repco... and they gave us the wrong parts... so we ended up getting the right pulley but there's confusion about the belt! The Intech belt their computer says is what we need is a foot too long! There's a shorter one thats supposed to be VCT/Intech... I was told that the VCT belt is longer. There's no hurry, the belt can be done when I service the car next. Does anyone know where I can get the right one? And which is longer? VCT or Intech? Cheers. |

The belts are different, they have a different adjuster setup.
FORD dealer would be BEST place or, take the number off the OLD belt, if it is still visible, and try to get one from a Repco store or Supercheap? There will be a few numbers but you should be looking for the one starting with 5pk or 6 pk. |

I have both engines and can tell you the VCT belt is longer... but it's not a foot longer so maybe you were given a V8 belt or something. The VCT engine has an extra idler pulley at the upper left of the block as you look at it, between the power steering pulley and the pulley at the top right of the block.
Here's a simplified pic of the incech belt : The VCT has an extra idler between the PS pump and the idler on the top left that the belt passes under. Bushbasher

Bit of a thread mine but it's relevant, figured I'd revive this instead of starting another.
So in April TheInterceptor busted his belt revving in a puddle, and we managed to get the CORRECT belt from Repco, shock! So I took the packet in that his came in, asked them to get that part... put it away for next service, brought it out today since we were changing the one-year-old lower idler (another Repco part), and discovered it's yet again, the wrong part!!!! So now I have a dodgy belt, cracking and all, still on, for the third time! I'm extremely reluctant to get another from them, so tomorrow I'll try the SCA store and AutoOne! I'd like to find one before the 1000km round trip to Denmark this weekend................ |

I've never had an issue finding belts, just ask for a 6PK2830 drive belt.

I just had a quick look on the SCA website, and the closest they have is 6PK2825? Is that suitable or..?
I'll drop in there and the AutoOne as well, and if there's no luck I'll have to try Repco again... taking note of the replacement's length though! |

Hi all a bit late with response but, if you have the Intec VCT Tickford motor (6cyl) your belt is the 6PK2830 slightly longer for the extra pully of the VCT engine.
Belt tensioner pulleys are Gates part #38009 and #38015. Power steering Pully #38017. If you have the standard SOHC motor (6cyl) 6PK2825 is suitable. |

Innnnteresting............ makes more sense now so thanks mate.
I will try for 6PK2825 next time then! Still find it curious, that Repco have the 6PK2830 belt listed for the regular Intech motor, and have a mismatch of the longer VCT belt, and regular one, all packaged as 6PK2830, so when you buy a belt for either motor, it's really a bit of a lucky dip! I did try them again, and got the correct belt finally. |

Hi All. I'm having the same issue in SA. My au1 Falcon XR6 VCT belt has snapped and I cannot get one the right size.. Got a 6PK2380 and it was about 10cm too small.
Anyone know what size is the correct one? |
