Hey guys
Will have to do a trip to alice spring from brisbane in a few weeks. I was wondering how long it will take by car and what is the best route. I have heard that some routes have no servos for 800k.... We will be taking a hyundai i30 TD Thanks Nick |

Assuming you are not in a 4WD...
Bris Roma Barky, Mt Isa, TC, Alice. Half is in the 130k zone and a quarter is 110k (wcq) Plan B: Bris, Rocky, Barky etc etc. Plan C (longer and has you driving in the people democratic replublic of highway patrol nazism) Bris, Broken hill, Pt Augusta and go north.... If you are in a 4WD go via Birdsville over the simpson or the plenty hwy but it can be a bit bumpy... |

If it is not your car you could go across the Plenty Hwy and cut 400kms off the trip

Unless you are in a reasonable/new/reliable 4WD stay away from the plenty. I have driven that road 8 times now. It is NOT for the average family car. Go via Mt Isa. Any way that you look at it it is a bloody long drive. Dont worry too much about the 130k zones in the NT. I have spoken to lots of "members" in the NT and they dont even bother unless you are above 140k. All that is of course your car and yourself are up to that kind of long distance cruising. Have fun, it is a fantastic drive, you will love it!!!
