Our NZ brothers aren't as dumb as we thought after all. It's good to see that when these vehicles are put in a neutral environment where no one manufacturer can claim being "local" and therefore appeal to the majority of moronic, mullet headed bogans who think they're being patriotic, the Falcon shines through on it's own merits.

Precisely. I was over on your side of the ditch for a few weeks earlier this month, and the whole "times are tough, but Holden and Australia are tougher" had me rolling on the floor laughing.

Those figures confirm (without a doubt) that New Zealanders are smarter than Australians. :

All this coming from a man who has Cletus as an avitar.
The average IQ of NZ did rise dramatically in September though cause I moved over here.

Notice how with the huge exodus of "thick as pig kiwi's" to Aus there is less dumb people to buy Holdens and their market share is dropping and drastically....

So the old PM was right when he said....

“New Zealanders who emigrate to Australia raise the IQ of both countries.”

As a New Zealander who moved to Sydney 24 years ago I find your comment an insult....

I remember that comment from ex PM Rob Muldoon (RIP) circa 1981 not long after the underarm bowling incident....I agreed with it then so can't retract it now just because I decided to move out....

The last one leaving though must turn out the lights. Is it true that there are more Kiwis living overseas now than there are living in NZ?

Cheers

No.

On topic, 3 points:

Kiwi's seemingly see the Falcon for what it is; Currently far superior than it's direct competitors.
Kiwi's are not feed patriotic Holden/Aussie BS.
Ford NZ have a far more aggresive and cunning marketing team.

The result is the Falcon selling like we all believe it should, as #1 - All it needs is a neutral market.

Good on them for buying the Falcons

I've also noticed 7 more brand new FG's, locally, today, so they're definitely selling more.

Good to see, now if only we could have a left hand drive Falcon for other more lucrative export markets

Good news for the Ford. From NZ do remember the Falcon has similar followers to our Aussie cousins, even though its not 'our own' we're glad the Falcon has been with us since day one!

The problem facing Ford now is that the VE Commy is selling for 30k driveaway with leather, and the base model XT Falcon is 36k, if the prices were the other way around I think that there would be a lot more FGs on the road.

Yes but you must remember the hidden truth behind these numbers, the cheaper holden sell these cars for, the less profit they make, and the bigger dent it will have on resale, thus having more of an impact on future sales. the amount of sales is irrelevant if there is next to no profit to be had.

but whats the point in having a profit margin when you can't sell your product?
no sales = no profit

Definitely plenty of new Fords there..
I would say the Falcon is treated like a luxury car in N.Z..
Farmers like them and they tow boats etc better..
4 out of 5 families there own a boat..
Like the Fairlane was..

Correct, back when I as living there in mid 80's if you owned an XE Fairmont Ghia/ VK Calais you were considered upper crust....Then move to Australia in 85 and my observation was that those models had no status at all....Just a locally made mass produced bucket of bolts with a few luxo extras over their base model that had nothing on their European peers.

Didn't help that I lived in Sydneys North Shore then where 50% of the population owned a BMW and the other 50% owned a Porsche...
