Has anyone looked at cutting into the rear bumper to allow for any aftermarket exhausts? I'm at crossroads as to what to do. I see my options as:
(a) Leave as is and have the tips hanging underneath (b) Cutting into the rear bumper to allow for any tips (c) or getting a whole new rear bar from a bodykit that has such allowances I'm not a big fan of the standard bumper with tips underneath and I don't particularly want a fiberglass rear bar that wont necessarily match the rest of the car. Any thoughts would be great, Cheers!

What do you think about Danny's exhaust system, it doesn't look bad. He didn't even touch his bumper

hey all,
i was thinking about doing the same thing... getting a twin exhaust for the back of the car like the old golf r32 or the audi TT. it would definately require a new bumper.. and it will look alot better than the tacky jobs people have done with the exhaust hanging off the bottom. |

Im not too familiar with the rear end of a Fez but i dont think you would need a new bumper for that. What you would probably need to do is cut some bits out to let the tip show, but your main problem would be with the stuff behing the bumperbar - not the bar itself.

Im happy the way way ive done it as it isnt much of a hassle. But I ant gonna judge peeps who do something i dont like. Its all about individuallity, somehting that i have done many times with the fez

im under the impression that theres not alot of space to work with on the left hand side of the car just behind the bumper.
i personally prefer to have my exhaust hidden, on my muffled exhaust it dumps just behind the bumper, you really cant see it until you look under the car. on my loud pipe, it dumps just behind the rear right wheel, but even then theres no chrome tip and its hard to see at a glance. i prefer visual discretion, although big white stripes over the car kinda dont indicate that |

Agree with Josh - I think you need the space for the two rear pipes. Hence why my Renault has no spare tyre (or even the spare tyre well)... as that is where two nice exhausts now lie!

I dont know what it is, but I personally find exhausts to look better with a cut out. Maybe it gives it a more 'factory' look. By that I'm also saying I'm staying well away from 45° angle cannons with a 5in tip. I like my mods to have a modest, but unique appearance.

I kno what you mean, i would prefer the focus style rear bar with the slots for the tips or even just a slight indent would be nice. Oh well might have to go for the droopy tip dump pipe.
ps: you could always have a fake tip on the left if your desperate for twins

I was quoted arond the $450-$500 for the rear section only, and thats in mild steel, the muffler needs to be custom made and worth upwards of $300. I am still waiting for firm quotes

That DOESNT look like it will increase the power though - I doubt that left exhaust tip is going to be puffing anything out of it. It doesn't have two mufflers. My car puffs out equal pressure through both exhausts....
Not sure that would work

Goddamn that looks nice, so much for equal length though. I can't tell if thats the Zetec kit or not on the back, it looks to have more of a stylized diffuser than the factory kit though.
