Default Modern fashion. Do you understand it?

The question is pretty self evident. Do you understand all the modern trends of fashion?

Personally, I can't. The thing that baffles me the most are these pre faded/worn/torn jeans. Why the hell would you buy a pair of pants that are allready half worn out? It defies logic in my mind. Worst part is trying to explain this to the perplexed shop assistants at Jeans West.

Any body else got any pet hates with today's trends?

underpants/boxers shown an inch above pants.bizarre,as you see them hiking their duds up constantly, then re-arrange them so that their daks show, only to repeat the procedure 3mins later...is like perpetual motion.tis to laugh.

I dont understand it, but its been making me work hard lately. All this bloody foil on T-shirts, I dont get it, the stuff starts to break up after about 10-15 washes. Apparently the whole aim of the clothes makers was at girls who would only wear it once or twice to a club.

For me, if its comfy and fits, then its good.

All the guys nowadays (of just about any age but usually under 30) who appear to be homosexual but are actually straight. They wear pink polo t-shirts with their collars up, large sunglasses, gel spiky hair or blow dried hair (i mean WTF blowdried hair on a male?), and usually some pair of $300 jeans with designer thongs or leather slides. My girlfriend and I can barley contain the laughter when one of these guys walks past. And I'm only 25!

I thought it was me. But I am happy to see that I am not alone. I find it difficult to buy clothing that I want to wear. Most of the clothing looks ИИИИ nowdays.

Exactly my thoughts, and I'm only 20.

Was rather shocked to find my Dad wore a pink shirt once upon a time, and he's a bread and butter, polo shirt and stubbies man. But it was the 70s and I'm hoping some sort of drug influenced his thinking.

Well Im a young guy but I dress well. I do have a samon coloured shirt, not hot pink (too far) I wear well fitting jeans (not tight to show my *** curves or bulge). I have also never spent more than $45 on a piece of clothing. The last jeans I bought were $15

What annoys me is the really metro pretty boy look, or the emo look. I mean black torn shirts with safety pins? Boots that would look more at home in mud trenches in the 1920s? with no shoe laces? Guys wearing makeup?

I remember when Body shirts, big collars and high shoes where all the rage (1970's) and my parents thought I was a fashion victim. Not much has changed. Young people dress in what they think looks cool, however I'm sure none has a mirror at home, because if they did there is no way they would walk around in public with there boxers showing. As Kramer said "My boys need a house"

No man, i mean NO man should ever describe a colour as "salmon"

There are only 3 colours. Black, white, and not black or white.

matter of fact im getting wound up over something different lol regardless fassion is a perception eminated by the media..duh and is just another commercial entity that needs to be desolated

well im 16 and i reckon that those emo/metrosexual boys crack me up, there so pathetic!!, i just go around with a nice pair of bordies or normal fitting jeans (no skin tighties for me thankyou) and either a surfy shirt (not pink) (definataly not pink *yuk screams homo)(no offence to any real homosexuals lol) or one of my ford shirts.

my boxers do slightly show but only if my shirt is lifted. and the reason is because thats where my pants naturaly sit, i dont actually lift my boxers any higher than the top of my ИИИИ crack (wedgie material otherwise) and my pants arn't around my knees either just where they should be.

Yeah I agree there - I just wear normal shorts and you can still see the boxers sitting just above them - its just the way they sit, can't really help it. And no I don't want to switch to the "my boys need a house" situation, as boxers provide an excellent compromise between a "house" and "living free".

I don't understand the low hanging Home-boy (tm) pants with with more ball room than the Hilton. Or the pink Polo Shirts with the Collar turned up.

I wonder if they will ever realise that the peak of the Cap is supposed to be at the front......

I need to post a photo of what I'm wearing right now to show how little I know about fashion.

This pair of shorts has to be 4 years old (I'm pretty sure I wore them to BDO 2002. And 2003 for that matter). Apparently I haven't grown out of them since I was 16. Good old army green. A few holes here and there from battery acid. Ripped them climbing a fence a while ago.

The belt, jesus tapdancing christ. Buggered if I know how old it is, but it's still dented from some stupid year 8 antics. So that makes it, errrrr, 7 years old at least. It's pretty fraid. The buckle is rusted from where the paint has come off and I've worn it to the beach.

Ford polo shirt, yeah it might be bogan but at least it's not flanno.

The shoes are brand new, but that's only because my old ones are totally gone. After 6 months of my feet getting wet whenever it rained I decided I had to move on. The handbrake only had to nag for about 4 of those.

I wore a FPV polo shirt and jeans to a semi-formal christmas party. Fashion? What the hell is that?

Haha Rob you crack me up!!

I can't stand the home-boy wanna-be fashion.. Go to the streets of US where you'd be bashed, it might sort you out. And I can't say I'm a fan of the new-age cliche "emo." I mean, they all look the same in the end anyway (tight black jeans, Chuck Taylor shoes, black punk t-shirt, throw in some badges, hair blow waved/combed to the side and apparently you're an "emo"!!!).

Myself, I like my clothes. I don't own any pink shirts, and I absolutely refuse to have my collar up - although my friends at my 21st thought it would be a good idea! Come to think of it, I spend too much on clothes - just like my car.

There's a bunch of kids who come into my work who think they're the trendiest kids getting around. They appear to own one pair of jeans, and one Industrie polo that has to have the collar up. Not to mention they battle it out for the gayest/stupidest hairstyle getting around.

Want to understand fashion?

Fashion is a way for cultural groups to identify themselves and for individuals to identify themselves with a particular cultural group. This has become more prelevent since the 50's with Mods and Rockers. In the 60's you had hippies. The 70's it was Discoheads, Punks etc. It is also another way that the next generation seperates itself from the generation before. The fact that you cannot understand the fashions of the new generation means that it is serving it's purpose.Of course this applies to music as well.

Fashion is not supposed to make sense.
Perhaps the next generation will start wearing their pants up over their waists? Who knows? but for certain it will be different.

I could go on but I will shut up now. I have to go iron my flares.
