Hi Guys,
I just changed my air filter and what seemed to be an easy job turned out to be anything but. My manual said to disconect maf, then remove clips, lift top of air cleaner and withdraw air cleaner, my problem was lifting the top of the lid high enough to get the filter out, there has to be an easier way, what do you guys do? I wanted to clean inside the box. |

Baz, what you should do is ditch the standard air filter assembly and get yourself a K&N set up from ebay....believe me you won't be disappointed.

I wonder if Abraxas took his air filter off before trading the kitty in when he bought the XR5. He might have one for sale baz

I did... and actually, I do.
Interested? PM Me! I have the K&N Air Charger kit, this includes the POD and all piping to hook up to your air intake. Goes in pretty easy and you get the awesome induction noise when you're done Dan

Baz just get on e-bay USA and search for in the auto parts area for air filters for a MERCURY COUGAR and they will come up. There are heaps of cheapies but you are much better off with a K&N should not be more than a couple of hundred.
Believe me it makes a difference...about 5hp at the wheels is the generally accepted standard but it also will make your engine sound beastly.
