Hi, just wondering if there is a way to reduce air induction noise from under the bonnet if you have a pod filter installed.
I have the BPR intake and it works fantastic, but I'm not the greatest fan of the induction noise. Any tips or trick without causing restriction? |

About the only thing you can do, if you wish to keep the pod filter setup and reduce the induction noise is;
1. Install self adhesive sound deadening (like Roadkill) on the underneath of the bonnet and firewall. 2. Install the deadening on the air intake enclosure and possibly on the intake piping. 3. If you have removed the factory intake muffler delete pipe, replace it. 4. Different brands of pod filters also have varying degrees of acoustic noise levels, so trying a different filter may make a slight difference. |

What you really need is a Helmholtz resonator device (the black pudding or doughnut shaped device that sits above the passenger side shock tower on the standard induction system). These stop the standing wave Helmholtz resonance; (or wind throb from air resonance in a cavity, such as when one blows across the top of an empty bottle) that not only makes the noise you hear but stops the proper operation of the MAF sensor. Unfortunately, these resonators have to be tuned to the particular induction system so refitting the original black pudding shaped Helmholtz device probably will not work completely but if you can do so, it might be worth a try as it should at least change the induction sound and perhaps to a sound that is more agreeable to you. I'm running a 90mm steel pipe from the filter to the throttle body, so not sure how to fit a Helmholtz type device. Also, there isn't a lot of room (or actually NO room) to work with.
Might try putting some sound dampening material on the heathshield to see if that does anything. |

I see it's a 3v.
You need to somehow change the frequency. Different lengths of that blue (silicon?) flexible pipe may help. As well as a change of filter brand as someone suggested.

I had one of the BPR Intakes on my old falcon and I admit it was horrible! The noise it made took the joy out of driving for me. On the other hand, the VCM OTR on my Redline sounds amazing!
