Default Euro Look Plates Have Arrived in Victoria

Well It was bound to happen sooner or later. Euro Style Plates have arrived in Victoria!

After fruitlessly trying to fit standard issue and then slimline plates to the Fiesta's euro cutouts and trying to make them look half decent (to no avail), I'm rapt that now I can get the euro look plates for it. I mean Its a euro car, Its meant to have its euro plates! (Geeze I know. Im a purist. : ).

Least the plates will fit the factory pre cast plate holes now, fit properly, and cover those mostrous HOLES that Ford drilled into the tailgate (Yes, they drilled into the bodywork, and ignored the 2 precast holes in the centre of the tailgate that came from factory... Not happy.) to fit the standard issue that it was sold with.... Aanyways Its a great Idea for those of us with Foci or Fiesta or Cougar Mondeo Etc! I'll be ordering mine on Monday. :

cheers,
-Dan

Default It is just a number plate!

Australia is not part of the EU - so why do we need Euro styled plates? I am happy with the Oz styled plates.

They are for Euro Cars that have the euro cutouts and preset holes. On a Falcon no they do not look all that good, But on the german made Fiesta (and countless mercs and beemers I've seen them on), they fit perfectly.

Here's a better Idea.

As you can see, the standard issue plate is longer than the cutout and looks crap. As the holes are there already, the slimline alternative standards must go in the same position but they still are too short and narrow.

The euros fit perfect, look classy, and add the authentic look to the car. They will also cover the mostrous holes that have been drilled into my car so as to fit the standard issue plates.

$4 Hunge to get them with your current Standard issue combo, where all they do is change the first letter of the combo to a 'V' (so TRE - 123 becomes V-RE 12-3). Its $7 hunge for a custom combo of three letters and three numbers.

I'm not a huge fan of customised plates, (which cost the same as the euro plates) as I think they can become too recognisable so i'm going for the euro plates instead.

Cool, now Victoria can suffer the hordes of pretentious gits cruising round in there German built Uber laser equivalents with there "Deutchland Uber Alle" plates too. Christ people. We are not part of the EU, why do we feel the need to immitate their nuberplates? Yeah, sure, standard plates dont fit, but care? (ok yes, I spent years funelling silly amounts of money into an itallian car with funny sized numberplates, but they were still a standard Aussie style plate)

Pretentious Git am I? Uber Laser? It may be small and four cylinder, but its mine, its brand new, had raving reviews and won many awards, and I'm happy with it.

Thanks for your opinion, Run it by someone who gives a f#ck.

I was referring to the Hoardes of Audis and Beemers running round with them.

i give danny full credit for owning a new car at his age.... whilst im plodding along modding my NC fairlane....., and if he feels the need to get the euro plates as a personalising touch to his car then good on him...

also, i do think they suit the car really well, and if i had a european car id possibly get a set as well......

Seriosuly, its a fine line between "comment" and smartarse jibe. It wasnt the comment about the plates that ****ed me off, I dont care.

It was the pretentious Git and the Uber Laser that made me arc up. However that person concerned has explained himself further concerning the intentions of those comments and I'm happy with that. So now the arguments over, let this thread continue.

Its not like they're forcing them onto people mate. They are an alternative to personalised plates - just another choice of plate alongside the footy team plates, the thouroughbred country plates, the historic car plates, and the countless "SIKVL" "SIKXR" "MRGEMI" "HBIBVL" type of choose you own combo plates.

Once again. I was reffering to the Audi and BMW driving Uber-Gits with these plates that can be found in massive numbers on the QLD roads.

Sure, they suit the car, makes it look like its in Europe. great.
And, Nice work on having a nice car at Dannys age. But my view on the plates still stands.
And I happen to like Fiestas and Focii (No sh*t!)

They suit the shape of the cutout in the bumper. End of story. Now back to your corners. AGAIN (tm)!
