Default Ipswich has had a spate of thefts of Typhoons

Hi all,

I've been made aware that Ipswich F6 owners have been targeted in 4 thefts of Typhoons in the past few weeks. A 4th was stolen 2 nights ago in Booval when the owner contacted me telling me to lock mine down due to these latest thefts. I only knew of one theft of a Phoon from Wulkuraka due to an ad on gumtree before being told this.

The person who contacted me said that they saw a few men scoping out the area weeks before the theft and a dodgy looking car parking close by their home with the guys standing around on a daily basis.

The owners were awoken by the thieves and saw them stealing the unregistered Vixen Red BF Typhoon out of the driveway as well as attempting to steal the family Territory but abandoned it when they realised the family were rushing out of the house after them. Being that the owner has left the NSW police force due to chronic PTSD, this has come as a significant blow.

Another very concerning piece of information is that the 4 Typhoon owners are all part of the same car club... I don't know the name of the club or even if it is a registered club or a Facebook group calling themselves a club but it feels really sus that all of them are connected in this way.

Keep your prized possessions locked up guys and in a shed if possible!

Man that sucks. If you're not using it on a regular basis might be worth putting it on stands and removing a wheel or two.
Hope it all gets sorted soon.

If you dont have them in a shed then your mad to not have a GPS locator in them.

Seems the people accessing their super, with higher unemployment is not a great combination.

Sadly if they are not found quickly then the poor things dont have much chance which is such a waste.

It’s a 2G device. Better off with an iPhail 5S or 6, permanently concealed in the car with multiple tracking apps running. You’ll pay $100 for the phone with a cracked but usable screen and $50-$100 per year for your 4G SIM.

It not just Typhoons/F6's... My best mate is a Detective working in a task force regarding a gang targeting euro/performance cars on the Southside of Brisbane/Ipswich... A lot of FPV's, HSV's, AMG Mercs and the like being stolen from peoples garages.... Im very careful with my car these days.. Don't leave the Garage door open unnecessarily, never leave it on the driveway, even if im only home for a minute and always keep an eye out on who follows me into my estate; to the point where i'll drive right past my street and do a big lap of the estate if im suss on the car following me before going into my street/house...

Unfortunately if the cars are getting stolen for parts they will be stripped and shells disposed of within a matter of hours. If it was joyriders, the cars would be dumped or torched. But being somewhat target vehicles they potentially will not be recovered. It is not nice people having their hard earned stolen.

Still don't know how they got it back, but apparently all but one of the 4 I mentioned returned in one piece.

Id suspect one of them had GPS and someone followed it, then contacted police then someone got a rap on the knuckles, would have better better if the rap was on the head.

But well done, breath a sigh of relief, but learn from this, one would guess this is not random hoons, they will try again.

It was a problem back in the 70s in Ipswich!
I used to play sport there at night time and the only place I would park my GT was right outside the front door to the building where the only light was. I still worried.

Well, turns out this theft was performed by some mid teens who sole the Phoon and an Audi and drive it from Ipswich to Toowoomba via a few small towns.

Apparently it was spotted in multiple places with the Audi following behind.

It was picked up by police abandoned with no key to be found. No damage no obvious issues.

Call me skeptical but this seems a little hard to believe in conjunction to the sighting of a suspicious car and group of guys hanging around their home for weeks. If it were teens, what are the chances that it was some kind of initiation test? To prove themselves to mates, or even that gang Big Daz mentioned.

Glad to hear most were returned in one piece. They are a significant car, the BFYB winner throughout the 2000s. I like the idea of tins and string.
