Default Buying an AU6 from a wreckers

OK, got a question for you guys.

I've been looking to get an AU2 or AU3 XR6 HP(Non VCT) motor from a wreckers.
So far the cheapest I've seen is 1250 for a 60k motor.

What price should I be looking at paying and for what condition?

I've been told they can be had from between 450 - 900 mark. Is this the case or not? How much have you paid?

I paid $900 for a motor with 104k and a "it will work or bring it back" type agreement. no real warranty.

These engine do klrs in quick time.. So imo buy the dearer engine and hope he was honest enough about klrs....For $400 more you could get quite a new engine...Cheaper?? Well who knows ???? Try and hassle to get all accessaries included....

There was a guy floating around on Ebay selling Falcon motors... very cheap to.
Usually around the $400-$600 mark.
I just had a look then, and he hasnt got anything listed on there at the moment.
Type in 'falcon engine' and it usually pops up with 4 or so from the same bloke, thats the one im talking about.
Maybe every couple of days check it? unless your after it right now...

Hope this kinda helps.

Yeah, I've noticed him floating round on eBay too.

He has the normal I6, as well as the XR6 HP & VCT motors.

Dearest one IIRC was a VCT at $900.

As a point of interest, the AUI6 can fit in the boot of an AU sedan (without accessories) Dont know if that would help you to retrieve it?

queensland to adelaide? it might be a bit far esp considering the distance and cost of petrol these days...i think you'd be better off just looking in adelaide for a decent one.
i was thinking about looking for one, if i could get hold of one i'd probably strip it down and rebuild it anyway, just to be on the safer side
