Default Vehicles owned by ford.

Hi all,

My brother recently purchased a ba mk11 typhoon in Sydney and when we were looking through the log books we saw that the first owner was Ford at Cambellfield.

My question is who at Ford would own this type of car and what could it have been used for?

Cheers,
Charlie.

A Dealership doesn't supply Media cars, Ford Directly Supply.
This would have been done for a Dealer Principal, on a car which had been getting some age on it at the Dealership, and used for tyre kickers to flog.

Ford Exec Vehicle. It's nothing new. My AU was the same. Some exec in Melbourne is given the car as a company car.

Great to see you Bucky!

My AU Futura wagon was a car bought by a Ford worker. The stamp in the owner's manual indicates it was bought by Ford Credit.

Dr Smith is correct - would have been assigned or leased to an employee. In this case, someone at director/VP level.

I think so as well. I had a mate that worked at Holden and he used to have a wage/salary sacrifice employee vehicle for years. He was a fork lift driver and he would usually have a Barina but he also had a couple of ls1 powered commodores for a change as well.

They would retrieve them at about 6000 - 7000 kms and then they were sold through recognised Holden dealers all over Australia as Holden lease cars. They would have either have GMH Phillip Hwy Elizabeth or GMH Fishermens Bend Pt Melbourne as the previous owners. These were not accident damaged mules but they were still subject to the normal use of vehicle wether the employee crashed it or not while it was on lease.

His sister in law works there now in an employee injury rehab capacity and she has a V6 VE Calais as her Salary package agreement daily drive.

Like others of said FPV car would be senior management. Saw a few of the big boys running around in them.

Mind you Gorman ran around in a e-gas wagon in early 06 to promote it to the rest of the staff.

Boy...he must have loved it so much to cancel the diesel program...and I would think it's the c-u-s-t-o-m-e-r-s that he should have been promoting it to....

Yeah, this was early 06 so petrol prices were low and e-gas was very small in sales. Funny by the end of 06 the sales of e-gas cars jumped up.

As Bucknaked indicated for this level of car it could only be a senior Ford manager/exec that owned the car probably as a fully supplied company car or as a subsidised employee lease. Normally they're turned over every seven months and when sold either to employees or through Ford dealer-only car auctions will show Ford HQ as the first registered owner.

Quite possibly an FPV or FPR car, when I visited FPR HQ a little over a year ago, the car park was more than half full of typhoons, even the Supercar boys liked these cars

I am the same, bought the car as a Demo. 1st owner was also Ford When I looked into it the best info I could get was Management and/or Promotions. The build number & K's led me to believe more like promotions. If it had lower K's on it (less than 2000) I would have expected management only. Try flicking FPV an email and see what the response is?

Most of the companies second hard cars we see in the second hand sales area usually have between 6000-8,000 kms on them.

I would say that it would have been an ex Ford executive car, from memory demo cars are owned by the dealership, not HQ.

Could have been the personal car of a V8 Supercar contracted driver like Lowndes etc.. They all have cars supplied. Last time I saw Jamie's drive it was BF Ghia, and DJR's Davidson came to a Club talk in a black Phoon. (Guess it'll be an HSV from now on).

Could have been a media test car.. Fpv / Ford have GT's / F6's available at times for staff to take home and for other purposes.. Unless you contact FPV and see if they will tell you theres really no way of finding out.. It could have had any purpose, including marketing / charity work.
