And GM outsold Ford all the way into bankruptcy, we have no idea of their relative costs...
Mazda 3 is very popular here up the front of the sales ladder yet internationally Mazda is in the red...

That's right, it seems the more cars GM sells the bigger the debt.

I call BS. The next gen Commodore (or whatever its replacement will be) is due in 2018, not 2016. Where did the media get this information, as no such official announcement has been made by Holden or GM?

No BS, just spoke to a friend who works at Holden, they have known about the end of the commodore since Christmas. Hell of a secret to keep.

nope...youd be an idiot to wish failure on a company as large as holden in australia.....its a straight up dig at all the media meat heads and the sheep followers who think holden is god and ford is garbage. Its disgusting how the media run dribble at fords expense...when the direct competitor holden is in the same boat...if not worse

You are correct. Commodore is going the way of the Kingswood but nobody in the media mentioned it.

I'm a tad surprised, however leading sales charts doesn't necessarily equal good profits.

I'd be putting my money on the next gen Impala as the Commodore's replacement - it's going to be revealed very soon at the New York Auto Show.

Here's a teaser: http://www.autoblog.com/2012/03/21/n...-via-facebook/

My thoughts too. The idea to stop Commodore is to save on development cost and dip into something that is already designed. We will just adapt a few dampers, trim levels, rejig the models and away you go.

Remember, Ford Falcon started in the US in 1960 and we built it here from full US development.

Terrible news, I was counting on Commodore to be around after Falcon's demise. Oh well, Chrysler 300C to the rescue!

Well, at least they're keeping their manufacturing facilities open. The Commodore always was an American parts bin special anyway (VE excepted) so it's replacement won't be much different in that regard.

The 300 is an import and doesn't need to sell in volume here to cover its R&D like Falcon/Commodore, it won't be going anywhere. Chrysler will have the large RWD market to themselves. If initial reviews are anything to go by, the new 300 will be a good thing.

SRT model is currently here in OZ ready for compliance checks. Can't be driven on our roads until that is done. Same with the SRT Jeep GC.

I'm looking forward to getting a spin in both, can't wait to try out the SRT 300 with the 8spd next year. The current transmission is its only real Achilles heal.
