New Sync 3.4 update rolling out

At last, an update is on the way, ver .20282, so keep an eye out for it. Apparently solves a few issues and is faster. We will wait and see!!

Installed this version today (2 April). Took about ten minutes for the update to run and complete. No problems with the update and maps were present at the end of the update not like last time when maps didn't appear for quite some time. Can't see much difference at this stage. Phone connection seemed to be faster.

I updated my LZ a few weeks ago. The latest version according to Ford for my LZ is now SYNC3 v3.0.20204.

Can I please ask how you updated your LZ to v3.4? Do you just download the file from the Ford AU website, then put it on a USB stick??

Sorry - I need to clarify my previous posting. My LZ was up recently updated to LZ SYNC3 v3.0.20204 which according to Ford is the latest version for the LZ. My LZ was not updated to v3.4 which appears to be only available to SA models.

Thanks for clarifying. Your post on 02/04 gave the impression you installed v3.4.xx, hence why I asked.

appears there is a new version for sync 3.4.21020, faster again and fixes a few problems. Its out in the UK and USA, so wait and see for Oz customers, and map 2.20 is out

Here's an interesting situation, I tried to download the latest sync 3 version from My Owner account and found it's still only sync 3.0.20404 so I rang Nuford to ask what the latest version is and they said it's sync 3.4 and they will install it for $80 which I feel is a rip-off so I rang Ford and told them I was unable to download sync 3.4 from My Owner account and they said you can only get it through your Ford dealer now. Sounds like another dealer money grab again.

If you have a LZ Focus, SYNC3 v3.0.20204 is the latest version.
If you have a SA Focus, SYNC3 v3.4.21194 is the latest version.
You can’t put the SA version on to the LZ model.
I believe that the above information is correct as it is provided by Ford but other people may be able to provide more information.

Sorry I put this in the wrong forum , I have a 2016 Mustang GT but I do believe sync 3.4 is also available for that but Ford are now only letting the dealerships to access it which they charge for it.

I have an SA Focus and it was updated by me to SYNC3 v3.4.21194 in June 2021 by downloading it from the Ford website. I make the comment that the process is not straight forward and the instructions are not up to date. Maybe Ford have decided to only let the dealers do it now.

Just had my SA serviced today, and I get a call from the dealership at 4pm to tell me it's ready apart from taking a long time to update Sync. "It'll look different," they assured me.

Anyway, when I do pick it up, I check, and nothing looks different. Yep, sure enough, they "updated" it to 21194, which I did myself a few weeks ago.

Didn't try to charge anything for doing it, though.

There is now a new version - SYNC3 v3.4.22110. My Puma now shows that as the current version.
Don't ask me what's new or what it involves because i have no idea what it all means :-)
I turn car on, it works, i'm happy.

The Ford website implies map updates are only available through a dealer service. Is there a way to do it ourselves? Appears I am still on 2019 maps even though I got it serviced recently, or have Ford not released any map updates for 3 years? (COVID?)

Version 20 of the maps available as we have it one one of our cars. Think there is a version 21 available. I specifically have to ask them to do the map update otherwise they tend to ignore it (Ford website says you should get map updates for 7 years).

As always, do at your own risk, but I find it pretty solid as long as you follow the documentation.

Owners login always shows as “up to date” even when it’s outdated so I don’t even bother there anymore. It could also be Ford staggering the updates for people instead of having everyone update at the same time.

I had severe issue with the 3.4.22251 update.
Maps not working, Bluetooth settings being forgotten, license agreements needing to be accepting every time turn the car on, radio station tuning to random with the volume up.

I managed to downgrade to 3.4.22200 and will stay there. If it’s not broken don’t fix it as the saying goes.
