Default What survivors have you seen lately?

Was heading into town today and around the bend up ahead comes a white XC with blue stripes, I picked it by the silhouette and the grill and lights from 400m. As it passed me I had a close look, well, as close as you can when there's a closing speed of close to 200kph, and it was, what appeared to be a genuine original and untouched Cobra. Stock Globes, paint a bit flat, the sides had a hint of ripple and it was sitting down at the back end a bit looking for all the world like an untouched driver for the last 35 years. Driven, parked in the shed, pulled out and driven again, was a bit of a surprise.

in great nic.

XP ? wagon today, moon discs, venetians, foxtail aerial etc. Was broken down on the side of the road with bonnet up and a few guys looking it over. Was still there later in the day.

Must have been missing the screw driver and piece of wire needed to get it going again

I bought a 1 owner XM Falcon a couple weeks ago. 73k miles on the clock.
It's been sitting under a lady's house since her husband died some 20 years ago.

She's 100% complete - but, everything made from rubber is toast.

By the way, this is my first post.

regards.

I was in Brisbane for work yesterday and saw a blue 186S HK GTS Monaro with rust bubbles at a tyre place in Nundah,an XP coupe driven by a nice young lady at a servo in Northgate,a nice AP6 Valiant also in Northgate and a poo brown UC Torana hatchback with an ugly rear spolier somewhere near Bogan.

See them all the time out here. I live a little bit out of a small town on the wheat belt of victoria. I see an slr5000, an XY I'm told is a real phase 3, my neighbour gets around in an unrestored xb GT coupe, I have an xb GT sedan, I see a compact fairlane that was bought over from Canada and is in 100% original condition. There is an old blue/white 55 chev with faded paint that I see occasionally towing an only 6x4 trailer. Then there are a few restored mustangs going around too. Not bad for a town of 2000 people.

Sounds like an early model, 1978 or 1979?

I saw one tonight in the city, white with an immaculate plush blue Chrysler cloth interior. That thing was absolutely factory fresh. Incredible.

Somebody local here is driving a Mk 1 Austin 1800 as a daily driver. It's in immaculate condition. It would be 50 years old this year.

There's a Porsche 928 in my area (Melbourne west) with a great V8 exhaust note I've seen recently. And the other day spotted an old couple who have a prestine white VW Type 3 notchback.

*Mint condition* EA Fairmont Ghia being driven by an older gentleman. Looked like it had been driven straight off the showroom floor.

You know the type: bought brand new, always garaged, washed every Sunday morning, never missed a service, gets driven to the shops once a week and when visiting relos/friends.

Occasionally I see a blue HG ute with old school canopy being use as a house painters car on James Ruse Dr around North Parramatta of an afternoon.
Also see a yellow S Pack XD sedan looking fairly original on Breins Rd Northmead of a morning.
There is a guy driving a mid '70s Renault like an R20 in a mustard or yellow colour towing a trailer made out of a aluminium cab chassis tray that carts scrap metal. Looks like it has had a hard life.

The other week I remember seeing a brown ED Fairmont for sale - $4,500 - with truck-like mud flaps, a bull horns sticker on the back window and a very tidy interior.

Um,,,,,, you're not from around here are you.

Ardrossan is on the YORK Peninsula and I'm on the EYRE Peninsula, so your second guess would most likely be closer to the mark considering Rex351 spotted it too and called it as a local car. Also, the one I saw looked well travelled and used. Basically straight - yes, untouched - most definitely. But like I said, sagged rear springs, flat paint and the flanks were definitely slightly ripply. Definitely a well used example that I wouldn't characterise as "low mile"
