Exclamation NSW: Cruise to Bulli - The Scenic Route

Below are details of upcoming combined Ford cruise to which I once again extend the invitation to Euro Ford Club members

Date: Sunday 15th July

Meet: Ampol Service Station, Campbelltown Road, Glenfield (see map below)

Time: 9:30am for 10:00am SHARP departure.

Destination: Bulli

Route: The route will take us on some great country driving roads through Menangle, Wilton, Appin & Stanwell Park.

Lunch: It sounds like hamburgers will be the order of the day at Bulli... but I'm sure there will be plenty of other food down there if hamburgers aren't your thing ;)

Just ask if you want any further details.

Any chance of going a bit further down and doing Macquarie Pass as well

This is a local cruise for me so it sounds like the go.

I haven't done Macquarie Pass and would like to do that piece of road. So if it's included, I'm in.

Put me down - I love the open roads out there... might need to hold on to Elly's video camera for a couple more weeks after the June 30 cruise

I might be a late starter in my RS2000 pending sorting out a logistic issue from the night before. Mainly, the RS can't haul what I need the XR to haul that weekend and it could prove difficult to overcome. However, I'm working on it.

EDIT: I'm not going to be able to make it in the RS, my apologies. Till next time!

Great cruise today guys. I had a good time, even though I seemed to keep finding myself in the group that got 'sidetracked' from the original plan each and every time! It was great meeting some new people, mostly the guys from XR5Turbo and FiestaXR4, it was great driving and very impressive to see the hot hatches in action

Didn't take too many photos today, but when I get them online I'll try to remember to post them. Video footage was pretty good. I might post up a summary vid when I get some time - all you guys were photogenic when we drove past!

Oh, and in final words, damn people movers who brake and nearly stop in the middle of the road, and damn Nissan Maxima's filled with old people, doing the posted RECOMMENDED speed limit through the National Park!

Photo's uploaded

Quick apologies if I missed your car - I was more focussed on video footage, where I think we got everyone in there... but I didn't even take a photo of my own car on this cruise lol!

Hopefully some of the other guys did, and they can add to the gallery if so

The front camber on YBCOS looks pretty extreme in that photo!

Good work, shame I couldn't get there.

Timmeh, the camber is set at three and a half degrees, caster the same with 2mm toe out and the tyres wear pretty evenly. It bites into corners really well. This is a good compromise setting to allow for road and track.

in all honesty, looking at that car you wouldnt really think it would go around corners well, it gives the impression it sits too high... BUT thats only the IMPRESSION, CAUSE DAMN it goes hard!

On the other hand it is possibly the lowest you can go with this car and still turn the wheels and have proper suspension movement, the front struts are 3inches shorter than standard, we chopped 3 inches out and made custom bilsteins. The rear is reverse eyed and then lowered further. Cannot believe it looks high, oh well.....This thing is absolutely on the floor for an esky. I have a track day coming up in September and this will show some of its potential.

Escorts were and still are a formidable weapon on the dirt and tarmac.

ohh sorry should of mentioned compared to other LOWERED cars. i know it essentially sits on its balls..

was just making a comparison.. i know its LOW! just saying that when i first looked at it i didnt notice its interesting ride height untill i looked properly.

Awesome day, great to meet a lot of new people and the regulars and see a great variety of machines. I loved the Angela.

The Foc did me well today, its been the first cruise since its been lowered and new tyres put on, keeping up with the XR5s and XR4s in the twisties was pretty satisfying.

Traffic became a problem for us, remember other cars don't handle as well as ours do (you could say the same for their drivers) a good idea for the next cruise would be a night cruise 7-10pm or so and we won't held up by nan and pop on a Sunday drive.

Look forward to the footage and pics

Thanks to the ClassicFord gang for organizing the cruise. It was funny when Sean turned off at an exit... I actually saw yous turned off but I thought "Hmmm... the majority is going straight..." by the time I realized what has happened, it's too late for me to take the exit :P
(Btw, how can ANYONE did not see an Electric Orange thing turning off )

Lunch was great, royal natio. park was enjoyable as usuall... though I should drive with a bit more brain and less adrenalin next time

Good to meet some new people on the cruise, I hope we'll cruise again sometime.

Cheers,

Ivan

Wow what an awesome day. I rod shotgun between Photn + Piotr and had a ball in each car. Great range of different cars attended (XR4, XR5s, fiesta, focus, cougar, escort, anglia) which im very sure had the adrenaline pumping all day. Saw some nice american muscle cars at the meet point whre photn tried to join there club.

Lunch are good too especiall waiting 45mins for a burger it was still justified. I got about 45min of video footage with highlights of a little red fiesta sticking it to YBCOS + ESC05S + NXR005 through Natio.

Ill be sure to get some of it up asap, but until next time hope to see everyone again for another awesome cruise

Here's a few lessons learnt for me today...

1) When shown a map of the intended route for the cruise, remember it, and follow it!
2) Continuing from 1, when the leader turns off, follow the leader! (particularly if they are following the map)
3) People movers on windy roads are a mobile hazard. Avoid, or pass at all costs.
4) XR5 Turbo's have tremendous acceleration.
5) If you're very hungry and need to eat NOW, don't order a burger from Ruby's.
6) According to Sean, Damo is his b*tch.
7) Nissan Maxima's are not made for the National Park, or for travelling in a straight line, within a single lane.
8) Whichever direction Sean (photn) turns in the National Park, do the opposite. That's where everyone else would've gone
9) The Cougar has a very bad turning circle.

Still, was a fun day all the same I love the roads in the Picton area just for their speed and open-ness.

Eleonor also had a great time, even tho she was still a bit down with the flu. She loved the Anglia and couldn't stop filming it, and also loved the blue XR5's and commented on how great everyone was that we got to meet and talk with today

LOL, nice summary of the day... and great pics too Dan

As mentioned it was a bit of segmented cruise with different groups going here, there and everywhere... but we all got there in the end ;)

I had plenty of fun heading back through the National Park once getting past the Maxima but then didn't really see anyone for a while :

Good to see everyone again and meet those I hadn't met before. Hope to catch up again soon on another cruise
