Weird problem in EF!

heya

i have a mate with an ef xr6, and sometimes when he goes to start the car, it'll start, but he won't have use of his electric mirrors, front electric windows, etc, but the car will start.. Once it's started, all these features won't work.

Secondly, and it's just started happening, is that he will go to start the car, and it'll go to accesories, the ignition, then he'll go to start it, but there's nothing there. Doesn't turn over, nothing.

He thinks it may be the starter motor, but i inspected his ignition barrel, and it looks loose and dodgy.

Can the ignition barrel be causing these problems? How do you change it without having to change smart lock/keys around?

itll get moved by a mod....

ild be looking at the alternator maybe?
or something to do with smartlock?

best thing to do is put it into diagnostic mode n check out what errors come up

My EL used to do that all the time. Funnily enough, it did it last night for the first time in probably 6 months. I'm guessing it's something to do with Smartlock. Usually if I take the key out and keep trying it will eventually fire.
