As android phones this month took over worldwide sales is the iPhone, i was wondering if the forum had a mobile friendly version? An android app would be awesome, but would take a pretty skilled Linux coder I guess. Anyway... just a thought!

I have an android powered htc and browse aff with it no issues. Given how powerful todays phones are there really isn't a need for the mobile sites.

Yea i just bookmarked it and made a short cut to it.
I personaly dont like the limit of information mobile sites give you. If you have android you shouldn't have a problem. |

I have a Google Nexus One on cyanogenmod 6.0.0RC3 overclocked to 1.113ghz, and its more than capable of viewing here normally, I was more thinking of pushed alerts for subscribed threads, username mentions, java chat lounge, user customisable grouped post headers.. those sorts of things. Thinking about it, that WOULD require more of an app wouldn't it. Still, I'm sure you agree it would be awesome?

I seem to have no problems using the built in Android browser to hit the regular AFF site.
I've made one or two posts using it as well, handy sometimes. My phone is a stock 2.1 HTC Desire that I've been able to use to browse & post with. With data packs the way they are these days, AFF doesn't seem to use a lot, and if you hook your phone up through a Wi-Fi access point it won't use any. It would be cool to see a dedicated AFF Android App, however I am guessing it would probably limit the amount of information/sections you could see, and really not be of much use when we can actually view the full site.

an AFF Android App would be awesome, notifications would be the single greatest benefit for me.
e.g. auto notifications on the phone as AFF notifications arrive for replies, quotes, watched stuff, etc and yes there's email notif but this would be more direct with AFF widget with msg rollerdex lol .. need sleep |

aff is fine through the iphone, no need for a mobile version if you have a decent phone i.e screen/res, browser and reliable highspeed data transfer.

I haven't had a shot yet, I only came across it yesterday. I will give it a shot today when I can sit down for a minute and post back my thoughts.

Stupid question, but what does this Vbulliten app do to AFF? Any improvements with dexterity, & usability?
P.S I know that AFF is "powered by" vbulletin.

I have HTC Desire HD, running 2.3 android I don't have any trouble with AFF on the screen, it is a big one though.
I do have to scroll around a bit, don't really see the need for an APP at this stage.

ok here's the deal, that app is not for this vbulletin forum as such, but more for logging into the actual vbulletin forum itself.
i though it would be like the ip.board app which lets you log onto any ip.board forum. i will keep searching if there is such a thing otherwise it may be up to this site's owner to have a mobile vesrion as gordz mentioned. blue beast as someone said earlier a mobile version of anything probbly has less features to use. |

burnout same deal with the iphone, good enough for any site, but if there is an app it helps.

Using my iPhone / Safari to view AFF is too fiddly for me. Took the fun out of it.

for the forumrunner app to work, the forum owners need to register the forum with the site in post 17....
otherwise i have found nothing else to facilitate the use of this site via iphone app or similar and i give up... |
