Default The latest CV8 ad - sounds familiar.

interesting ad ... doesn't sound like any LS1 I have heard though. I wonder if it was really a Ford engine ?? perhaps a stroked wheezer of some sort ?? Dual 3 inch exhaust ??
I reckon I am good enough to be able to pick the colour of the car from the sound too

I must admit it does sound kinda similar also to the BOSS V8's. But i've never heard a BOSS that lumpy.

I know this is not the engine XA Coupe is talking about too.. but it is similar. There is just something distinctive about a BOSS 5.4L - must be those oval exhaust ports that they have (if I recall correctly)

You are kidding me! I too thought it sounded nothing like an LS1, with or without bolt-ons, with or without ****Factor™, and certainly with or without ANY combination of headers and exhaust.

Geez, the old girl is becoming a Media Slut™ !!!!

Thats a classic!
On a slightly different slant does anyone else find that ad rather doomy and gloomy too?? I mean its an interesting approach selling a car on the basis that they're dumping it from the range? (because they can't sell enough)..?

Hahaha, I thought it sounded good, and I had the feeling I had heard it somewhere before... At least they did a better job of capturing the sound then they did for the Just Car advertisment...

Now now, i think the punch has already been swung ;) no need for us to gloat

seriously though it really does make you wonder why they didn't approach someone who has seriously hotted up LS1 akin to the amount of work put into laminge's car.

i guess in the end they couldn't go past the sound :

Come on guys...
FORD did the same bull in their BA XR8 ute MK1 ad. Remember the salt lake run with all the cops following?

I spent countless hours in an exhaust shop trying to get that sound..... until somebody told me it was actually a different V8 engine sound. Bastards!
I even went to the extent of ringing FORD to ask what exhaust they used and they told me it was STOCK!.

That was also a Windsor engine note from what I've heard.

Probably because they already had Laminge on the books. From their perspective it doesn't really matter. If they had a LS1 on the books they probably would have used that.
