My uncle hs offered for me and my g/f to move to qld with him as he recently divorced his wife and has a huge house in Strathpine. What im wondering is there much work up there for us id want to go up there with jobs or get one soon after arriving. we would probably stay with him till we get settled then move into our own place. Is rent expensive there? Anyone got full time jobs going soonish

What type of jobs?
The courier mail-which is full of careers guide reckons there is jobs everywhere. finance, accounting, employment agencies, landscapers, etc. were mentioned Queensland is meant to have the second lowest employment after Western Australia. You should be able to get a job but I dont know how well paying. Rent is pretty high inner city. But if you find a shitbox in the outer suburbs you could get it for $100 if you are lucky. $200 is probably for the outer suburbs if you want a place for your own. The best rent Ive heard of is 30km from Brisbane for $100 for a small crap house. $80 for a single room at a house in southbank Last edited by ler; 05-08-2007 at 04:10 PM. |

full time might be the hard part though if they want to put you on casual to test you. You could get a transfer and just quit as soon as you find another job.
Ive also heard they need retail staff in rich suburbs because the rich kids dont need to work and the parents are rich professionals. |

Buddy rents are similar to Sydney ,Melb ,it is not as cheap as it once was .
The SE corner . Burleigh to Noosa has plenty happening along the coasts.. it really depends on what you do now. I live near Beenleigh , and the corridor of Beaudesert ,Jimboomba , is slated for plenty of activity over the next ten years . Yatala is where a lot of commercial building is happening , so there will be plenty of opportunity over the next five years .Companies are relocating to these areas and lose people that do not want to travel . A word of warning ,don't believe its cheaper living up here ,it isn't . I moved from Sydney and it has got dearer. I see you are a forkie , you should have no trouble picking up something in transport up here . I ran a company up here at one stage and could not get decent store guys . I would put a resume with some recruiters up here . If you move interstate and land a better paying position , you can get some of your moving costs back on tax . I did it. |

I know of a tyre shop looking for staff, pay probably won't be awesome, but he's good bloke to work for. He'd be willing to train the right person too.

Mate, Strathpine is on the Northern outskirts of Brisbane and if you & your g/f move in there with your Uncle, I'm sue you'll find plenty of work in that area alone.
There's plenty of industry locally and it's not a bad place to live as well. The rent should be reasonable, as it's a blue collar working class suburb. |
