Default Car theft

How in this modern day is this still possible.
I thought (wrongly obviously) that with self locking/ keyless entry/ computer technology that this would not be possible.

Now I dont need or want intimate details that some scumbag (visiting) this forum might use to do the same.

just find it all strange.

Tow truck. Or break in and steal keys off your key rack.

Maybe do a search on stealing keyless cars. It's easier now. If a high tech thrift can get access to your canbus system they don't even need the signal from the fob.

Mostly they steal the keys.
Very common where I used to live in Brisbane. Despite being a high crime area, all the people living there thought it was a lovely little community and always leave their doors unlocked (my girlfriend included), and people tend to drop their car keys pretty close to the front door.

Usually in a bowl advertising the fact. Look in here this is where all the keys are.

Put the keys in a tin box or even a tinfoil chip packet. That will stop the signal. Yes I know you shouldn't have to do this but the manufacturers are putting this sort of rubbish in more and more cars.

Most thefts out my way are due to people leaving there keys in there cars according to the cops or as others have stated keys flogged from the house.
