Congratulations to Ford and the Fiesta XR4 for taking the Bang For Your Buck Sub-$38,000 category. It beat the RenaultSport Clio 197, Mazda 2 Genki & Skoda Octavia RS.
The Fiesta came 3rd overall BFYB 2008. |

OMG No... there is a certain French car loving nutter that wont be happy with that news.
This thread will be a very unpleasant place very soon. The mods should just lock it now and save the pain.

Its easy to see why it won. Like the Barina SRi that use to win this section all the time there is no real competion.
I found this also when buying the XR4, its no real secret than I dont see what the hype is about with the XR4 but for what it is its a fine little car with few real competitiors. Currently my kids hate me because I have taken the XR4 of them and I parked the XR6 Turbo Ute and drive the little box of horrors every day now.

Haha.. the RenaultSport Clio 197 is impressive, yes, but at $36,990? The XR4 would score better than the Clio. After all this is BFYB not PCOTY.

Darin, I didn't know you were part of the crew now. What colour did you go? Just got to wait to get mine back from the insurers and we'll have to meet ;'(.

Your's damaged Leigh?
I've got the Performance Blue with white stripes, as you've seen in the spotted thread already. I'll be meeting a few other XR4 owners on the 31st, if I'm not rostered on t work. You'll have to come along if yours is mobile

With any luck I'll have it back by then. I'm missing it already, the Suzuki Sierra I'm borrowing has slightly more roll with the Cooper tread...

I've been impressed with these little buggers for what they are. From memory they are 110kw and in a very lihgt nimble Fiesta they'd be a fun car that's for sure. Hopefully we can catch up soon Daz, be nice if we could organise another Xmas cruise to the 'bridge and you could lug the family in the new aquisition.

Whats also suprising is the Mazda 2's 1st corner apex speed of 78.88km/h. faster than the F6, 135i coupe, 350Z, WRX, XR6T, and Mazda 3 MPS. Just goes to show how great the chassis is for the Fiesta (sharing same DNA).
Someone came for a ride in the fez yesterday and was dumb-founded at its cornering poise. |

I thought the new 2 has the platform base that we'll see on the 09 Fiesta?

Nonetheless the Mk.6 and 6.5 Fiestas' dynamics are unbelievable.

Trust me, I'm not bagging the MK6s, not by a long shot. Just looking forward to what the MK7 will offer when the time comes.
