Ok FF guys and girls I've had a bizarre day at work (see "I hate that" thread in the Bar....ha).
So now unwinding to relax - a mate rang earlier today and said bought a new car for near 90K (optioned up Euro) I won't say what but let's say I was a bit baffled, but congratulated him etc as his and wife's choice!! It certainly wouldn't get my money (not that I could afford it) but each to their own and all good. It got me thinking. I'd like to know if you won the lottery of 100K (hypothetically) and as part of winning needed to select a brand new car/suv/ute up to that amount - what would you choose? I'm yet to decide myself! But I will soon. Hopefully get a range of vehicles to discuss! RULE- it cannot be a Ford so makes it harder ; ) Last edited by MercuryT; 08-05-2020 at 06:57 PM. |

There is nothing that comes close in performance for the money. And no servicing or fuel cost! Just win win.

Yep me too. It's an absolute dream to have one, and then I'd keep the FG for the "real car" feels when I need it, or get rid of it..

Exactly what I've done. The BA and FG for when I want to enjoy ICE but the Tesla every other day

Do I have to buy new? There's nothing out there that I like enough to want to buy.
I would find myself a nice HQ 253 4 spd Kingswood and use the change to build a man cave to put it in.

FGX XR8, FGX XR6T, VF SS-V Redline LS3, or Clubsport LSA at the upper end. Only because plenty of HP cars to come but these are at best going to go flat or go up. No more to come of the Aussie cars. Ultimately I would get a GTS-R W1 but 100k ain't going to cover that,
The only thing is I'm likely the last generation to have grown up and love these cars so much so who knows where prices go but my intention is to get one of both stables when and if I can and hopefully hold onto them. Most realistic goal is I get a VF SSV-R and down the line get a FGX XR6T. Last edited by MITCHAY; 08-05-2020 at 07:27 PM. |

Nothing. Pay the home loan off first. Buy a new daily drive with my own money later - quite happy with my FG2 XR6T-LE for the time being.

... "reply" ... ?
Sure it is, you're putting more thought into it because it's your own money. Anyway, given I'm keeping the FG2 - the next daily needs to be a 2 door. Already got a 4 door I want to keep. Something better than the VW 1600 SuperBug I owned previously, the only other 2 door I've owned. Corvette looks good? If RHD ever gets made. Last edited by JasonACT; 08-05-2020 at 09:14 PM. |

Nah not my money - I can barely afford a 10K Caravan (hence my Towing thread) so no 100K cars on my radar......ha Not over thinking just tried to make a fun thread about cars not what is sensible financially etc. Last edited by MercuryT; 08-05-2020 at 10:14 PM. |
