Default Car respray

We just bought the car home from the booth, went inside for a drink and when we came out it looked like this.....

Seriously though, we did paint it, it's at the booth drying still. I can't pick it up until tomorrow morning. Got some progress pics which I will post up later.

OK here's a few pics of the respray today....

Masking up...

Paint....

More Paint...

And the front bar...

The guys that run the panel shop didn't reckon baking it was a good idea today as the burner only works half the time : and I had 'fast' thinners which meant that the paint was drying too quickly anyway between coats and it wouldn't have let the paint settle down flat enough. It was virtually baked anyway as today was 30something degrees and inside the booth it would have been about 40deg.

I'm going back there at 8am tomorrow morning (yay...no sleep in :yeees: ) to pick it up. Sunny's gonna help me put it back together then I'll get some good outside pics and post them up.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. The panel guys said it was a shocking day to do a full respray because it was so hot but this has been dragging on for ages and I just wanted it finished. I was suprised that the red colour didn't cover that well and I had to go over the car with about 4 coats to hide all the repairs properly.

There is a lot of paint on it so after a few weeks I'll rub it back and buff it up to get it dead flat. Thanks go out to my support crew Sunny, Damo and Gilly for standing around and talking **** _2:

But yeah it was really looking nice and shiny in the booth today, can't wait to see it when it's all back together again!

Since today totally revolved around cars and paint, here's what we spent the arvo doing...

Pat and Sunny had rubbed it back earlier in the week to get all the orange peel out of the paint. We all gave a hand going back over it quickly with some 2000 wet and dry paper then cracked out the buffer. It has come up pretty mint so far, once the swirl remover goes over it, it will have that mirror shine

You can clearly see the difference in the second pic from the rubbed back door to the nicely buffed door.
