Default Changes (Feb 2010)

I've noticed a few icons changing round the place. What's in the pipeline?

The standard vBulletin icon set is undergoing some changes to better suit a forum of this nature. From time to time over the next few days we will experiment with different icons - some will stay as permanent fixtures while others (like the wheel icons) will not.

Cheers

While changes are being thrown around, are there any plans to change the "Sticky" text to somthing else besides Pink? Maybe Red?

hopefully my comments don't offend anyone, but I tend to agree that the current icons are a bit off. Reminds me of a nasty torrent site or something.

As noted above, the purpose of the revised icons is twofold -

1. To make some elements a little easier to see at a quick glance
2. To have design elements with an automotive theme

Suggestions are always welcome but offering "I don't like them" is hardly much help in determining an overall direction - we'll listen to constructive commentary but thus far the opinions provided have been pretty evenly split.

Cheers
Russ

I think the idea is there but the current icons dont fit right. They look out of place.

Was there a last post button before? Its not something I remember using and probably wont still.

I agree with XR in regards to the sticky colour, I also think red is the best colour.

Also, does AFF have ads on it now? Because I opened the page and the trailer for shutter island was in the bottom left hand corner.

Nope - If you have that present then it may be time to check out your malware protection, as you could have a browser hijack.
Thanx also to those members that have provided feedback (both positive, and negative) As members would be aware, things do change from time to time(as indeed they should) and some of the changes aren't always to the likings of every one of the 50,000 odd membership. Whilst the admin / mod team seemingly find it impossible to suit everyone, we do take the time to listen....

the traffic lights are cool, they could do with being a bit smaller/toned down.

It is great that Admin and Mods are open to suggestions. Change is always good but with a 50,000 strong membership...can't please all of the people all of the time.

I think that changing the icons to suit an automotive forum is a great step forward! After all, that is what this forum is all about

I think the Traffic lights are brilliant. It's a nice change and I believe tasteful enough for a motoring forum. Leave them as they are and thanks to the Admin team for taking on suggestions and brightening the place up, THANK YOU

On the main page and sub forums on the left hand side. Green is for new posts, red suggests no new posts.

Can you not see them? Curious....Perhaps clear your cookies and refresh.

I think you'll find selecting icons out of the range from the ones provided with the theme for the site might look a bit funny. Hence why (IMO) the go to last post icons don't look right. The old original blue ones suited the blue look of the site. I'm all for the automotive theme for the icons, but you probably also have to tie them in to the theme colours of the site.
There wouldn't be that many icons to fiddle with, is there?

russ can the red and green dots be added to the main drop down menu when you are in a thread

would be easier to see if a new post has been made in a sub forum as well

i like the lights on the main page but the arrows are a bit much if they can be toned down a bit they may not look so intrusive

just a thought

Jason

I presume you are referring to the Forum Jump menu - if so I'm not sure whether it can be added there or not but shall have a look.
