Not surprised at all as I think you will see all the car manufacturers heading in this direction with 4wd/suv/utes etc, long overdue imo.

Both look great if the renders are correct. Huge improvement to the look of the Everest rear end. Engine options sound exciting too.

Its just the big tyres that make it look tough, grab a current Wildtrack & fit big feet & they look the goods, I'm yet to see an Everest kitted out the same way.

There's one near my house fitted with off road mods and big tyres. From the front it looks pretty tough, then you look from the back and that tough image is shattered.

That Everest Looks a bit Ranger Rover(ish) at first Glance.
Also Means there's No chance of a Factory Backed F150 coming Here... IMHO |

I wonder if Everest's body will follow that squarer styling or something else in between..
I do like the idea of Ranger and Everest having a squarer profile. The power and torque specs on the 2.3 EB Hybrid seem a bit too precise to be made up as is the combined fuel economy figure of 3.0 l\100 km, is this a leak or did someone make some well informed guesses? Reading some of the comments on the website, some people still think that VW will be providing the V6 diesel.....it's hard to convince some people that Ranger and Everest are all Ford. The same one the Territory should have been fitted with. The same one that usually sees Disco 4 & RR Sport for sale at half the market value with buggered cranks... |

but now the diesel is being quietly dropped from the range. (lack of interest) Just on buggered cranks, I don't recall that being a major issue in the diesel Territory, perhaps owners have experiences they can share... The lion V6s and V8s were actually built by Ford and sold to J/LR. Last edited by jpd80; 21-05-2020 at 08:44 PM. |

I can't say I seen any 2.7 powered D3s (or Territory) with the same issue. Thats only my observation of regularly checking out the used market for Land Rovers but there are quite a few documented cases of failed 3.0 V6 on google. These engines are over ten yeas old now so I guess any manufacturing or design faults will have been dealt to. |

If a 3L Land rover does an engine or even a Turbo you need to pull the body off the chassis to fix.
Can't imagine too many workshops, let alone owners willing to do that on something so heavily depreciated.

An electric 4WD and SUV. I wonder how they will cope wading in 800mm of water? What is the life cycle of the batteries, replacement cost and where will the batteries be disposed at the end of their life? The local tip?

Doesn't really matter, the people who can afford these just flip them every 3 years for the new fancy model. Its the second hand buyers who have to worry about that

I'll eat my hat if the Everest looks that good. Actually I'll just buy one.
Those tyres look like 33's or bigger. I'm sure for production they will skip leg day and sell it with the 30's which is standard size on most other 4x4's |

Any indication on the US Ranger? Not too long ago the rumour was both the diesel V6 and 2.7 Ecoboost V6 were going to be options

These both “look the goods“, if the renders and info are accurate.

I like the looks and the engines on offer. They look tough. Means when the time comes, I may look at the previous models on offer at hopefully a discounted rate.

If those CGIs are close to what Ford is planning to deliver, their engineering and styling team are to be applauded,
add in a RHD Bronco and Ford would have a triple header win,, all Ford need to do is have faith in their own products. |

Clearly, the role of an article like this is to increase website visits from the curious but perhaps it's also a clever way to gauge feedback on future products without revealing too much actual substance, it may be more about how we respond to details of engines and squarer styling cues. I'm sure that Ford's project managers must smile when they see these types of articles, it must be pleasing to see so many excited by the vehicles they're developing. If that was the case there would be a Ranger V8 Raptor.
News of that generated the most interest I have seen in a while and even had the Americans jealous on their forums.

Unfortunately, engineers and designers even their managers have no control over approving money for projects.
