"Vegemite has launched a premium new spread known only as "Blend 17", which promises a "bolder, richer flavour" and comes in a limited edition run of just 450,000 jars.
But there is a catch: with premiumflavour comes premium price, and Vegemite says the Blend 17 jars will retail for $6.99 for 150 grams – more than double the $3 you would pay for a classic jar of the same size. There's very few people outside of yeast aficionados who wished that the taste of Vegemite was "bolder", but a spokesperson for the company said it was about time Vegemite dipped its toes into the waters of premium foods." http://www.msn.com/en-au/money/compa...cid=spartandhp

Clever; doubtless 450,000 people will buy just one jar to see what it tastes like.

I probably wouldn't buy a jar as I don't ever eat breakfast at home, but I frequently get strange looks from cafe workers in the city when I ask for vegimite on toast and that's on white toast with margarine. None of that fancy odd ball breads. I'd give the blend 17 a go. I also get strange looks when I ask for baked beans on toast with cheese but I like the cheese between the baked beans and the toast. Yet smoked salmon with avo is considered normal?

Blend 17 ... Sounds more like a catchy name for a new coffee
But then again, this isn't the first time their marketing gurus came up with a marketing and consumer flop by trying to emulate Apple ... Who remembers this.... |

They look at you like you've just propositioned them cause you don't want butter (packeted) on the side. I know a café in Brunswick where blend 17 will be popular - man tax.

Is that a joke? I'm not taking a shot or anything but for 13 years from k to year 12 I took to school a vegimite sandwich and also something like a peanut butter sandwich and on special occasions the other sandwich was Devon and tomato sauce or my favourite, silverside and mustard pickles. I grew up living the high life.

But it'll make your car run cooler, increase power and improve fuel economy, what's not to like?

A company like this can release anything and the people will try it - even if it's crap they still make money and the customers go back and buy the original (similar companies do this with new flavours of chips).

This will be the Phase 3 HO of spreadable condiments... I am guying to buy a jar and keep it in my garage in one of those special airtight de-humidifying bubbles and use it to fund my retirement. I will be rich.

If Blend 17 is the pinnacle, how bad were blends 1 through 16...
