what do you mean by coil trigger wire ? there are 3 of them because it's coil pack ignition or do you mean the tacho feed which has the coil pulses?

i was told to wire up this shift light i have to the coil triger wire, but all i could find is the 3 of them as well, i thought there might have been another wire i was missing or couldnt find. Do u think that wiring up a shift light to work off one of the coil triger wires would still work?

ok you need pin 45 on the ecu to get the clean tacho output so you don't even have to go through the firewall just to the left hand side of the dash

that is because you need the clean tacho signal at pin 45 on the ECU not the one at the cluster which is a composite signal with other data superimposed and will give you nothing but trouble

well i've hooked up a tacho to behind the cluster and had no problems with it giving false readings. It is the pink wire going to the cluster.

PS. here my thread asking the question. click here

Cheers

depending on the tacho you can have dramas this way the correct method is pin 45 on the ecu this wire is specifically there for connecting a tacho it is called the "clean tacho output " by ford
