Gday
Just surfing ebay ,and found a VCT head complete,It got me thinking how hard would it be to fit and wire up with the VCT solinoid and is it absolutly neccesary to connect, will it work with out the VCT triggered? I dont have the intension to do this just wondering if it could be done as Im sure someone else would try it ! CLICKY:http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....77#description Id go for a HP cam and XR6 ecu fuel pressure reg,if I was to go for more performance with the intech

if you don't connect the VCT whats the point? to get this head running you need the cam gear the oil line and sender adaptor the ECU and you need to run an extra wire from the ECu to the VCT acctuator which is pin 72 on the ECU

Is the cam profile better than an Intech or hp cam, before the VCT solinoid come in.

the HP cam is better than the VCT cam if you are just going to use it as a static cam you get the added advantage by using the VCT

Bit of a pointless exercise unless you intend to turn your engine into a VCT. If you want to do a head swap, track down an XR6HP head and whack a decent cam in while you have it apart.

i've been thinking about trying a vct cam in a standard head for a while now.from the price you pay for a vct cam (around $220 )and theres no need for the extra cost of valve springs or shims its pretty cheap.compared to a stock au you should pick up an extra 11kw on paper.but going buy how these vcts pull some good numbers on the dyno's i'd expect a little bit more or a lot more if you have a piggy back chip or edit and usual zorst/intake mods..
from what i gather the vct only advances the cam ,this will only effect your low down torque.you will still get the same topend power curve of a vct,but it would be a bit slugish down low. for outright power i reckon a vct cam would produce more topend power than a hp cam ,not buy much though .

I would have thought the same. Valve springs are cheap, a rebuild isn't.
