Im getting a pioneer cd player installed this week and i asked them if it would still be compatible with the steering controls and they said that I would need to get a connection which would cost several $100, and its not really worth it. I was just wondering if this was true or if there is a cheaper solution to getting the steering controls to work with the new cd player. Any help would be much appreciated, Thanks!

I asked the same question yesterday
and got a reply with this... (sorry dont know how to quote from a different thread) "As for the steering wheel controls with an aftermarket unit, you'll need one of these: http://www.thecat.net.au/cat09.htm I got one and they work absolutely perfect. (I got mine from JB Hi-Fi, you'll probably have to get them to order it in as they generally don't have them in stock)" |

I bought a topline Sony (18months old) which isn't supported :( I like the head unit but next time I'll make sure of my facts as the controls are handy and may as well be used if poss. Last edited by ronwest; 26-09-2007 at 04:01 PM. |

I had an Eclipse head unit fitted, it went straight in with no extras and the steering wheel controls work perfectly.

I fitted an Alpine CD player with the cat unit. works great .
I remember the salesman saying that the cat unit will work with most CD players that come with a remote control. |

Same here. You should be able to pick up a CAT09 for around $160 form JB HIFI or similar.
