I can't possibly see how they could legislate against tow bars, they are such an essential item for so many, about 40% of cars in Australia have tow bars. How can they decide wether it's essential or not.

Scruby again ? If you look at any 4WD forum you'll see him mentioned there a LOT - he hates us fourby owners (sorry Harold - a prius is off road)

Well, I don't think they do.
Firstly, the pedestrian council is comprised of... Harold Scruby.
Oh and he has a secretary. And a web site. And that's about it.
Who he DOES have the ear of is the press, specifically A current afair / today tonight - and we all know what standard of professional journalism they pump out ! I'm pretty sure most people in government know EXACTLY who Scruby is and why it would be electorally disastrous to support any of his hare-brained schemes.

Oh, that was cathartic. I feel better now !

I thought he was Govt. supported.
I seem to recall he was plucked by the Govt. from Mosman Council where he was a serial pest.

Well find for me just ONE example of any of his crackpot ideas that the government has implemented.....

They know they'd lose HEAPS of votes from most of them !

How can someone be injured by a tow bar? The only injuries I ever seen are when I hit my shin on the tow bar getting stuff out of the boot.

That will be the complaint. Notice the pics in carparks etc. Why anyone walks that close to a car they arent getting to the boot of Ill never know.

The bike rack pics are funny. How do they know the people havent just rolled up, parked, and are off riding the bikes and are coming back to use the rack again? That is what they are for.

Not being a waterfront residing multi-millionaire, how does that moron expect I get my boat to the ramp nearest me? Push it? Get .

Anybody want to help me track this down and hurt him with my Towbar equipped Territory. Scruby needs to get a life.

For the record, I have the Heavy Duty HaymanReese 'bar, which has a hitch on it that can be taken out with the removal of a pin. I only have it on the car when I am towing.

The problem is idiots like screwbit make already stupid people dumber with the propaganda he spits out.

Look at the crap he went on with about the Typhoon. I would like to know who pays him and gave him the authority to set up a council anyway.

Whats stopping people on here setting up a car transport lobby group to counter this fruit loop.

I know we all need money to live but for sake he should go and do something constructive instead of finding ways to iritate taxed road users.

Mr Scrubby needs a damn good scrubbing , me thinks . ( a wire brush comes to mind)

Most of those Pic's are of extreme situations . Anyone got 2-3 kids who like to go for a bike ride ? "Naa kids , you've got to leave your bikes at home and you can get "fat" because we're not allowed to take your bikes , it's very dangerous" .
Ever tried fitting 3 kids & 3 bikes in a car (or wagon) , Scrubly has got to be kidding !

I've had the kid's bike rack on the back of the car 100's of times , Hell , if you can't see it you need a "white cane & seeing eye dog" (no offence meant) .

I can see the point of the Ball obscuring the Number Plate , if you're not using it continuously , only " Plus " in the whole thing .
I've got a socket that fit's the ball & the Ball is on the trailer all the time (saves losing it) :

In NSW , if your plates are "faded" , they're replaced at "no charge" and you can order the same numbers , also free of charge , this happened to my Mrs a few years ago . On the RWC , it suggested replacement , that was done no dramas . ( just went to RTA & ordered them )

Where will this guy stop = No driving lights if they "protrude" from the car , No rear-vision mirrors , they "protrude" from the car , bumper over-riders , No rear wipers on wagons , No bumpers , You could keep going ====

The way it's going the old saying " Be responsible for you own Actions " will be a thing of the Past , it very nearly is .

Already a thief who breaks into "your" House , Business , Car etc. he has more right's than "you" .

Scrubby must use a glove for a condom === I'll let you take it from there ?

Norm

RedXR347
yea mate , I agree with you there . We've had our Wagon rear wiper "bent up" twice (pre tow bar) when someone caught their clothes on it , the tow bar would have kept them further away and we wouldn't have to have bought another ones . Lol

i only keep mine on there incase i get rear ended!!!

this will never be passed! he's dreaming!!

paxton, im with you bro ... lets hunt him down!

As far as i know tow bars are already illegal if they are not in use.

How do i know? I was defected for it and had to get a RWC which they wouldnt give unless i removed the tow bar!
Vicroads concurred too.

Did you have to remove the whole tow bar i.e, from the body or just the tongue cause i went for a rwc couple of weeks ago then into the pits for rego and i had mine fitted but no tongue as i removed it and no one said anything so i'm surprised you got defected for a tow bar must of been one angry copper

It's true, not sure what the winge is about as they are already illegal.
The 'tongue' must be removed when not in use.
