Default Interstate fines help.

Does anyone know if demerit points from other states will affect your licence?
Eg. I have a Vic licence, but was fined 3 demerit points in NSW, will they come off my Vic licence?

yes they will, its a national system now. Your only hope it to get a mate from NT to sign the stat dec to say he was driving as they don't have a points system, they just pay the fine

Demerits gained for an offence in one state will be attributed to ones license if the home state has the same technical offence at law.

Variations can apply for speed (etc) offences, where one state might domestically appy three demerits, another might only apply two.

The NT demerits kicked in at the start of this month

Thankyou NT Government from saving me from myself again and addressing the real issues. :

BTW There have been more deaths on NT roads this year with a speed limit than last year without

Yeah, and have a look at 2004. No demerot points, no speed limiys on high ways, no speed camera's, and we had a record low road toll of 35. It really is good now though, now that Clare is looking after us.

Have a read here: http://www.atsb.gov.au/publications/...fety_indig.pdf You wil be amazed at how many indiginous people have wiped themselves out as pedestrians and sleeping on roads!!! And these numbers count towards our road toll. I am still trying to figure out how the new 130kph limit will help these idiots.....
