Few years ago, (I was living in Poland then) there was a commercial on TV for this product that you SPRAY ON YOUR REGO (it's invisible to naked eye) and when speed camera (or red light camera) flashes to take the picture THE REGO IS GLARING (just like trying to take a flash picture in the mirror) and the registration number is impossible to read.
The product was (supposedly developed in US) and it came to Europe where it's legal- as it doesn't obstruct the rego. Here's the link to the first one that I found on ebay, there might be more : EBAY and Have you heard about it here?Ebay 2

Mythbusters prove that it doesn't work.
Plus their is a disclaimer on the cans saying that they accept no responsibility if you get caught. The company really backs its product....

Yeah, and theres other myths like covering your number plate with layers of glad wrap. As previously mentioned, cameras are all infra-red now, and the only tried and true method is to not speed ;)

It's easy to say dont speed, and I agree with that as a concept but check this out next time you go for a drive.
The differnce between coasting along at 60 or 67km/ph in a wayout weapon such as a 4.0 auto falcon is less than 100 rpm. It takes concentration to stay 55 to 60 without cruise etc. In 50 zones I lock out overdrive. The 40km limits in Carlton & Fitztroy, 1400rpm in 2nd = 40kph. Idle speed in 4th will coast at 45. There is a camera on most corners down Johnston st. The thing is in Melb I cannot take a trip without passing one and on most days 6 or 7. The margin for error is Zero. The punishment harsh. I would not be risking my precious few points left on something like this. Oh, for the record I haven't been cought doing more than 10k over the limit for years.

This is available in OZ ... http://www.stopflash.com.au/ but it doesn't work. I sprayed it on my wife's car and she got done for 69 in a 60 area and the photo of her plate on the notice was as clear as a bell. |

Heres the best way not to get caught. Don't break the road rules. I know it's a revolutionary concept, but it does work.

Apart from everyone else that has said Mythbusters...which i also saw, there was also an Australian police show that showed what it actually looks like when the photo is taken, it makes the number plate a bright light, whch they just filter out and get your rego anyway with the software they have.
I however have worked out a way to beat speed cameras, rego searches, or bascially any crime you may wish to do involving a car. *****PLEASE NOTE I WOULD NEVER DO THIS MYSELF,I have only thought about it becuase it amuses me*************** What you do is own a common car, for instance a white au falcon sedan. Order personalised plates just normal ones, not a fancy design one. Maybe a black with white writing plate, something like that. Then the personalisiation you order is one of these two combinations: ADVISE or TBA This would work in Qld and possibly NSW due to the way CTP insurance works If you search the data base under either of those it gets too many hits and will not perform the search because quite often when those are the abreviations used by RTA or QT when the rego has not been assigned yet, hence having 100's of the same combination on thier system. TBA stands for to be advised, I think ADVISE is self explanitory. The reason for the common type car is just to make it harder to track down and more likely to be other common type cars like that on the data base.

I have heard of a device that can detect a flash, and instantly set off a flash of its own
The idea being that the picture comes out as a bright light and not much else I dunno if it works or not but it's a hilarious concept |

The speeding fine will be a LOT cheaper than the fine for using a device to avoid detection. Lift off your right foot and all will be sweet

Apparently if you remove the number plates the camera cannot detect your rego no.

Funny how if the anti flash stuff doesn't work, why in SA are they testing out 'infra-red' flash camera's ?

When the government decides to use proper law enforcement to control speeds in this country, and not machines, then people will stop beating them at their own game!! Revenue should be taken out of the equation, then maybe the law might gain some respect.

I should get a can for a good friend of mine.
He just got a speed camera fine for doing 65 in 60 zone (beach rd 3 lanes each way, divided road in the daylight) on a vespa. Someone, anyone tell me we aren't going to far.

All my cars are wearing it. I never go out and deliberately break the speed limit. But I always spend most of my concentration on what is happening around me. Even if I do go over the speed limit, I am a safer driver than someone that rarely takes their eyes off their speedo.

Has anyone purchased ghost plates - number plate covers which render your licence plate unreadable at certain angles - and received a fine?
Here's a link so you know what I'm on about http://www.ghostplates.com/
