Default Rear curtisy light dramas

Hi guys.

A while back, the switch on my rear curtosy light (The one above the rear doors in the roof) broke and wouldn't turn the light on (spring had snapped, and contacts came loose).

I went a bought another light, and fitted it in (Got it from a wreckers out of an AU2). It works when I open the door, or turn all the interior lights on, however, it will not turn on just itself by flicking the switch... why is this? Was there two different lights in the AU?

I'm thinking that because I have an August 02 plated futura, I may have the BA lights fitted, which might explain the incompatability... I'm lost on this...

Cheers,
Chaser...
