you don't want to pay the tolls (less than $5 all up) and yet you're willing to go out of the way to avoid them and in so doing chew through a lot more petrol and time.
just pay the dam toll. from memory there's only 2 @ less than $2 a pop. |

actually i looked into it. It is either 30km each way with $3 tolls. that is 50km worth of petrol
or 40km each way NO TOLLS. my car gets 10km/L. so about 8km worth per $1 because i use premium. so i can travel about 50km extra for complete trip. |

Yeah but one is all highway cruising at 100, the other is stop start up and down hills, behind trucks, and 70 zones, with majorly crap roads.

$3 tolls. I wish. My E-Toll account (and thus my credit card) just got slammed about $17 for going from southern Sydney to the central coast for the weekend!!! But damn that M7/M2 combo is worth it. Cruise on 100, sit back and take me there brother BA...

I find the bypass of tolls is good also because there is more shops along the way if you need to stop for something en route

I cant magically make food out of driving through tolls.
like buying food and paying tolls is a different thing. im not complaining at all. I just want to avoid tolls for my greater good. |

Highway might get better fuel economy. + that 6 minutes doesn't account for the caravan infront of you doing 20k's below the limit. |

still wont make up the 50km(equivalent of $6) round trip. there's plenty room to overtake as it is 2 lanes most the way. and even the backstreets in logan which is 1 lane are still wide

its not that expensive, just pay the tolls ! as annoying as they are, I had to, too!
the time and petrol wasted look for detours, it'll be just cheaper to pay the tolls. |

I live in ipswich and travel to Sunnybank hills every day for work. Coming home in peak hour along ipswich parking lot (motorway) can take any where from 40-90 mins depending on the traffic and weather. If I take the Logan motorway it takes 45 min and costs me about $1.90 ( on etoll) And I have none of the trouble that you'll have on the Ipswich parking lot ( motorway). But if you want some where to stop to get food and stuff there are ample shops before and after the logan motorway. Also I use heaps less fuel on the Logan than the stop start run on the ipswich motorway. But hay IT'S YOUR MONEY AND TIME.
