Exclamation Induction Time!

Righto I've got the Pacenaker Extractors and Redback Exhaust in and have got used to hitting the speed limiter even quicker now I'm looking at induction side.

I already have a K&N filter and to tell the truth have really noticed the difference. I'm looking at slapping an XR6 Turbo snorkel on but truth be told I am looking at the best possible setup.

How about a Typhoon snorkel, pod in box and new intake piping??

I haven't done this before and wan't to do it myself (and don't want to mutilate my car).

What are peoples experiences??

Cheers!

If you are really after the best possible setup, then talk to G&D and Bluepower about their airboxes...

yeah not worth the $400! go to ur exhaust shop get one made for 150 3inch mandrel bend, paint it etc watever, good pod filter apparently 3A racing pods flow the best and filter 2nd best. Run the bigger tickford snorkel or if u want bigger buy the Ss inductions kit, cut a hole in the front of your Airbox run some piping to the front of the car and your done. That setup will be sufficient.

1) So SS Inductions Snorkel or XR6 Turbo snorkel
2) 3 Inch piping from airbox to throttle (can be purchased from supercheap?)
3) Pod Filter in Box (can be purchased from supercheap?)

Repco have the K&N Big Bertha 9" long pod with 3" neck for $93. That's around half price. You don't need a 3" induction pipe - in fact, G&D use the stock intake pipe on their air box in the AU I6s - so it must be alright. All the 3" pipe does anyway is give more induction noise, but not necessarily more power, and certainly not more torque.

Dyno day last year in sydney - I changed my intake pipe from a stocko to a 3inch like what 8lueoval has and it increased from 132rwkw to 137rwkw.
I changed it between runs, from memory I was one of the last cars and had an extra run over everyone else.
Cant remember who it was but they made a comment about what I was doing.

Having said that, GnD lost power when going to a 3inch over standard intake pipe. So I dont know.

That looks Gold!

What is the box made of???

Im assuming a big pod is not going to fit in the stock box so can you just fabricate one from sheet metal or aluminum?? How much of the pod does the shield does it have to cover??

Personally if it didn't look so dicky I would like to put a scoop on the car, opening the bonnet is like opening a bloody oven it gets hoy under there!

That air box looks soo good. But without a lid could that be classed as illegal due to exposed pods being illegal.

most likely, but I reckon they'd pick me up long before they had a chance to open the bonnet- an open pod would probably be the least of my troubles! lol
