No such thing as a Series III XR8 Rebel.

Are you referring to an AUII XR8 Rebel, or an AUIII XR8 with the Rebel kit?

i know alot of guys refer to the kit on a S3 as a rebel kit, but ford never did.

S3 XR8 had 2 body kit options.

Ford racing body kit( old rebel)
and the Tickford body kit(old S2 bodykit)

I share you passion !

I agree that yes I can get a BA for around the same price with more power but I love my AU's and sometimes it an emotional thing versus a financial thing. I will be willing to pay a fair price if its a good car even though I can get a BA for roughly the same. The boyfriend had a BA XR6 Blood Orange ute but then traded it in for the Pursuit cos of the handbuilt motor etc, as I'll be going from an EF stocko 6, an AU will do me nicely. And that AU front is just so damn HOT!!!!!!

At $18K to $21K for an XR8 you would be better off with a AUII TE50 or TS50. You get the 220 motor and far more luxury for the same money and probably better resale value

Took me nearly a year to find my AU3 XR8 as most are stupidly priced and I'm simply wasnt going to pay BA prices for an AU !

My boyfriend (who owns the Pursuit 250) would dearly love me to get a TS50 or TE50 but I love the AU XR front ends and not the TE/TS front ends. The AU XR front is just damn sexy!!! We have discussed me buying a TE/TS and putting a a different front bar on it but I'd be just as happy with the 220kw AU XR8. It all depends on the price though and how low I can get the k's on it. The pursuit only had 13000 k's on it when we bought it 2 years ago, now about 36000 and its just the weekend driver now cos of that. Mine would be a daily driver and I do have to travel a bit for work so would like to start out low on k's. When I get some more pics of me with the ute,I'll post them!!

Yeah I see what you mean. Just been window shopping on carsales.com under private sellers category and there is a guy there trying to sell an AU3 XR8 for 25k no leather and lots of others in the low 20k mark. I would have thought that this was pushing it when you consider the age, etc of these cars now and the fact that there are 2 newer model Falcons out, soon to be 3. I mean sure, they are a nice vehicle but unless you just had to have an AU3 over a BA or BF XR8, I can't see these guys getting too many bites for that money. Just for interests sake, Redbook lists the average for a 2002 AU3 XR8 for around the $12500-$15000 mark, with somewhere between 80000-120000 klm on them.

Sure a really low klm car might be worth a little more, but another 10K?

Make them a more realistic offer and see if they will bite!

No idea mate. Its only worth what the seller is willing to let it go for and the buyer is willing to pay.

I like to think redbook gives a pretty good guide to prices but if a real good example is available and with lower than average klms on the clock, then I suppose it is worth more.

What would you be willing to pay for a 5 year old car which will soon be three models old (when the orion comes out) is the real question at hand?

Especially when you take into consideration that you can pick up a good early BA in the 8 or a turbo for around that money with the more powerful Boss engine, etc, etc.

Personally I couldn't see myself paying the asking price for a car that age when I look at what else is available for the money, but thats just me. If it were closer to $15K then that would be a price I would be a lot more comfortable with. After all in 6 months when the new model comes out, this car is only going to depreciate further. Whay should I take the hit on it after only owning it for a few months?

Nice looking car though!
