Hey guys, I thought I'd post up some photos of my AU which I crashed in December last year. Having no ABS I locked up the wheels in the wet at 60km/h and into the back of a new Toyota Prado.
I was driving into town when I got distracted from someone pulling out from a side street, only to see the 4X4 stopped 20-30 metres in front of me. As soon as i hit the brakes there was nothing I could do, even turning the steering wheel full lock didnt have any effect on my direction. I was ok and so were the people in the 4X4. No damage to their car but from the photos you can see the tow bar went through the bumper bar, taking out the light and pushing back the whole radiator support. I got the car of the road with the power steering failing with the revs strugling I turned the car off. Within 2 minutes two tow trucks pulled up out of no where. My car got towed just around the corner from where the photos were taken and the bloke towing my car gave me a lift home. Anyways, keep safe on wet roads, it only took a second literally for this to happen. Cheers.

i can't believe the AU didn't have ABS across the range ?!?! Since it was introduced to high end models in 1992.. that's disgraceful. Bad luck though hey.

lol hlc, its fixed now.
new: bonnet front bumper front guards lights grille radiator support radiator pulleys belt a/c element right front skirt plus more all resprayed with a blend going to the front doors. i saw the receipt when i was paying my excess, over 6k! the smashs repairs did an excellent job with the only problem with the battery kept dischaging. turns out the cells inside the battery were broken, so i got in touch with the smashs repairs and they installed a new battery for me.

Hammond Ave (road you're talking about) is a bugger of a road, was out at work on Thursday afternoon and saw a Magna get hit up the rear by a ute, it happens pretty regularly. That accident you're talking about, some of the guys from work helped the lady out of her car. On base - I mean on the main drag up near the accomodation blocks - 430,436 etc. Parked opposite the cinema.

i think ppl put way to much faith in ABS.... ABS should not need to engage.. it should be thought of as a last minute thing to get you out of the poo... i dare say that most times that you are gunna hit something.. you are gunna hit it regardless of ABS
