would suggest pay the extra for BA or BF, we have a fleet of cars and the AU in 6's or V8's are noting but trouble (some ppl say the AU was a lemon.... but I din't say it!)

Care to list the trouble with AUs? Then do the same for BAs. I know which list will be shorter, and it's not the BAs.

Back on topic - $21k for a S3 XR8? Depends on if it's bog stock, or has $5k or so worth of mods done to it. I know utes hold their value well, but you can get them from anywhere for around $15 to 18k in stock form. Also, remember that the S3 utes did NOT get the 220 motor, so it's only a 200kw jobbie (just in case the dealer is pushing it as a S3 220 XR8 - no such thing in the ute from factory).

far too much money for an AU, Id still pick one over a BA, but you should be able to get into one for around $16k now.

Is it private or at a car yard? Sounds like car yard pricing to me.. there ridiculous. Although i agree for a few more grand he could get himslef an BA, it all depends what he wants. A newer BA woulod be worth the extra but its not like the AU series 3's are ancient, they look great too but im bias haha

Problem solved......sell him yours for 21G and put YOUR bum in a BA......lol

j/k......I too much prefer the look of the AU XRs

Have you thought of trying the (real) auctions, youd hafta save at least 4Gs on a car that price

or.. instead of bying a BA just keep the extra G's and mod your car.. sounds like a better idea to me

There is a PURSUIT 250 on ebay for $20.000 5.6L strocker.
that would be a better buy.

How much did he pay for it?

No way it's a factory 220 - they just didn't come out in the utes. Links to official info can be found at www.fpv.com.au - then look at Heritage or History links and select AU XR8 from the list.

One pricey AUIII XR8 with that mileage, then again as you mentioned WA, I am not surprised.

Go the 220 kW ute!

well he brang it over and its very tidy.
blueprint , manual and has a custom checker plate tray and painted sides . boxes underneath too,
so it definately looks different as you dont see many xrs with the alloy trays. i told him to join the forum and put up a few pics

B2tf - interesting mix you are aiming for. And I'm not sure I mean interesting in a good way, but that's what I said about the XR50 bar, and look how that turned out!! lol.

it looks good, and thanks for posting that pic because now i know what those rims would look like on an XR :hihi:

One thing I'd really like to do to my ute is have a nice Jarrah tray on the back of it, but I'd make it out of the tub i.e. cut it down then put the timber over the top of it to make it flat.
