Default F6X copied the TRD Hilux...

I wondered where I had seen that stripe before... It's the same type of design (thin stripe around the edge with a thick central stripe that has the models name in it and even the placement of it on the doors is similar), which makes sense seeing Prodrive is in charge of both companies.

The TRD Hilux has more FPV DNA than the F6X!! Just look at that front bar. It has the same type of triangular cuouts each side of the lower grey piece of the bumper. Also has the same type of grey foglight surrounds.

The F6X actually looks ok when compared to the TRD.

Hilux looks like a bad rice job.

The irony is not lost on me in that the new kid on the block TRD has managed to carry it's external styling "DNA" across from it's sedan to it's 4WD ute, and FPV with it's "total performance" has not.

Who cares! If you like the F6-X, go buy one! If you don't like it, Stop wingeing, don't buy one and buy a GT, Typhoon or XR8. Or you could even buy a Territory, put 20's under it with airbags a GT-P engine and then spend $3000 or so and custom build a body kit to your style ,then go over the interior in nice smart coloured cow hyde.

The whole point is that FPV have tried to make a great product on a budget that appeals to all type off people and try to make it good for everyone.I work at Ford and it sort of annoys me when people don't think that we are trying hard enough to get good cars out there with in a price range that people will actually accept without critisism.

A good product, bolt some brakes on, get some shoddy wheels and pay a sign writer to make a dodgie looking $5 sticker....... The problem is the F6X is a step backwards. The TTG looks far better and costs a lot less. If someone is going to pay an extra 15k or so extra they want return. They want something that visually looks great!! And this crap about having FPV's that don't stand out, sleepers, history has proven, with early T series and Force series that they just don't sell. The people that buy those sort of cars buy Lexus, BMW and Mercedes. FPV and a few others just never seem to get this through their heads.

Hold up.

While we, as enthusiast are more critical of Ford/FPV offerings than the average punter, we also notice and appreciate more of the little differences between Ford and FPV's "competitive offerings" and appreciate them. Lets go through the points that separate the two sedans, and the two SUV's:

First, XR6T vs the F6 at 18K difference.

Badge,
Bodykit,
Brakes,
Interior,
Intercooler,
Oil cooler,
Tune,
Wheels (18" vs 19")

Conclusion: People who walk in off the street and see an F6 parked next to an XR6T will see where the money has gone.

Now take the F6X and the TTG, with about 10K difference:

Badge,
Brakes (only fronts upgraded from an already good setup),
Interior (dash is worse, seats are debatable),
Tune.

Conclusion: The same people will look at an F6X and a TTG and wonder "why bother"

There is a reason people on here are left wondering about FPV's desicion, for the most, it's negative and for good reason.

I have read and understood other members arguments on things like tooling for specific bumpers and such, but a good set of 19" or 20" rims (with 255's Front/285's Rear), coupled with mirror highlights done in the "Molten Metal" theme, a subtle flare kit comprising sill extensions featuring "FPV flutes" again, done in "Molten Metal" would have been far more effective in keeping the F6X inline with FPV's DNA, without breaking the bank. Most people who seriously considered this vehicle would have shelled another 5K on it to get the real deal. Even if FPV only recovered 20% of the extra $5000 per unit in R&D costs over it's projected 1000 unit run, thats another $1,000,000 to pay for development of a flare kit and prototypes, testing and calibration for bigger rims/tyres. Thats double what they spent on the whole car.

It's such a let down.

Daniel

F6-X does have a nice interior IMO. But youron the money, and the F6-x is FPV's most expensive car (according to carsales.com), but doesn't look it...

If (some) poeple wanted the subtle appearance they will buy a TTG, part of the reason for buying a FPV is that it offers performance and a different look to the other models.

Daniel.

To me you have hit the home run with what is wrong with FPV at the moment.
The type of people that are running FPV at the moment are salesmen. Excluding Orion they won’t admit there is anything wrong with the product. It won't sell because we (they) network aren't doing a good enough job. So it’s a price issue. It’s a climate issue. It’s an issue other then product worth within the brand they are meant to stand for. When you actually get a presentation regarding the sales numbers and the decline, the obvious simply seems to escape them. It is truly a modern marvel.

They are more proud of getting the product down to a price then the content of the car. That’s normally what you want except that the latest FPV projects haven't exactly called for this approach. It’s a concern FPV haven’t realised this.
Consumers, buyer, commonsense men and women who really do understand the realities of what FPV have to work with are telling them “we are prepared to pay more to get the product where it should be”

Its little stuff that keeps adding up. Introducing performance suspension in the GT40 Cobra and F6 and yet deciding not to include performance seating as part of the package. No that would have added too much to the price. To the enthusiast it’s about dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s within reasonable limits.
I won’t pretend everyone has the same opinion but the people in my circle, owners, and enthusiasts seem to think the same way.

Apparently Rod Barrett did an article where he claimed to want to get back to the basics and back in touch with the buyer base. On hearing this one friend decided to give some constructive critique on his Cobra. The FPV reply was so far out of wack it wasn't funny.

Very good point. Also noticed the Cobra didn't get special embroidered mats like the 40th and F6R. Again an example of cost cutting and little things like this matter to the enthusiasts.

I believe my "friend" mentioned the mats. Think he has this issue in hand now. I guess it just sounds like people that are never satisfied, but it’s not really like that once you start to listen to what they have to say.

If it ticked all my boxes, I would have been happy to go that extra 5K!

And HSE2 your response to Daniels post is spot on.

I must say, that hilux, with the red, the dark windows and black bits and pieces looks the goods. Is this vehicle going to be released? I have seen a couple of Hilux's locally with the big wheels, the dark windows and lowered and they look the goods.
