Default Caltex Vortex Premium - HQ Orders do not sell

Hi Guys,

Was filling up the other day, and noticed an orange sleeve on the Vortex Premium pump. So I asked the servo attendant, and said are you out of fuel or something because I've seen quite a few of them (Out of Order sleeves) around lately.

He replied, Nah, the tanks are full, but weve been ordered by Head Office to not sell it because they are having to do some testing on it.

This to me, would suggest that the problem is not just localised to this one servo...

What could this be? Dirty fuel, water?

i know shell has a problem with a cracker but unlike bp im not sure if caltex have their own refinery.shell may have sent out bad fuel before they realized the cracker was buggered.

Caltex are actually Australia's largest oil refiner.

I would not listen to everything they tell you anyway. As petrol loses octane, they can not simply allow it to sit in the underground tanks for too long while testing is being carried out.

It would not be water as thats a simple matter of dipping the tanks to see how much water is in there and if its over the limit, its simply pumped out.

It is most likely a risk of contamination or 3 customer complaints which has led to that one individual servo needing their fuel to be tested for contaminants.

Don't know if it's related to the supposed rubbish Shell are bringing in from Singapore?
