Ok so its been a while since ive been on here, posting. I had my ED which started getting a little tired and old and now her days are up.
I just went out and Purchased a: Ford AUIII Forte 02' for $4,100. (170,00kms) (RWC + reg Nov08) I had a few questions to start off with. 1. Did I Pay a good price for it? 2. Whats a good starting point to look at modding? 3. Whats a few little inexpensive mods that will give me some extra horsepower. 4. Some Simple inexpensive Cosmetic Mods I.E some cost Effective DIY mods to make the overall look of the car a little better? Here a pic of the car guys, and any input would be great as my first car was more of a bottomless pit of $$$ to repair, so im looking to really start off now with modding it. Cheers Wired.

Wow, I think thats a pretty good price for it. I didn't pay that much less than that n I got an ex taxi, hmph.
Your AU is sitting a lil high, like mine, and you could probably start by lowering it just a bit. |

yeah, that's a great price especially for what you got...as far as power mods go, an xr6t intake snorkel from ford is a start, possibly also an ef/el airbox lid and 3" intake piping, maybe a k&n type filter (that's probably optional) or you could just go with a pod in the airbox, then an exhaust system, extractors and catback...all should be less than $1k i would think.

Mods....hmmmm...whats your budget? Remember alot of us started out here saying words like "easy, cheap, inexpensive..." it won't last, a few posts from a certian few people will have you buying new rims, lowering, exhaust, extractors, superchargers......
You should be very happy with that pick up dude.

I guess I'll start off some with an Air Filter, whats generally good for AU's : Whats also some little cheap mods that'll give tiny bit extra hp ($100-$200) and an XR6T snorkel from a BA ? will that fit on my car? If so is there many BA-BF parts that fit on the AUIII forte? Cheers once again guys, yeh im signed up aufalcon.com i have to et some pics on there lol.

Bargain mate, dead set.
For Bling - Super lows. Other than that it looks good, ditch the mud gaurds. For go - 3 inch cat and exhaust - $600 Pacie comps - $600 3 inch intake and K&N pod - $300 CAPA flash loaded with KPM generic tunes - $500 $2000 and you will still get 700k's to the tank, and be running high 14's on the track.

Cars looks clean and straight man, well done .. but yeah, the cheapest thing you can do is ditch the mudflaps haha, i had mine on for over a year and people kept telling me to ditch them, but i didnt want to, i finally did, and it looks soooooo much better ;)
Then, Lower it Despoiler it Tint Tint your taillights remove the grandpa spec wind/rain viser thing haha then work on engine/exhaust ;) ;)

First of all, make a profile at aufalcon.com, hehe.
Then look at getting her lowered. This will make it nicer to drive and generally handle. Get a four-wheel wheel alignment afterwards, if it's not included. I'd recommend a sports exhaust and matching extractors, including a high-flow cat. Then look at putting in a high-flow air filter or pod filter, then enlarging / shortening the pipe to the throttle body and the bigger Tickford air intake snorkel. Once those basics are done, you can then explore more expensive single things like maybe getting a performance computer chip.

Wow man, thats a steal at that price! Congrats!!!
I put extractors on mine, 2 2.5" sports exhaust a BA XR8 snorkel and put a K & N air filter to gain abit from it. Look wise it looks pretty good man, lowering it will give it a differant look and yeh, loose the mudflaps as The Monty suggested.

For that sort of budget, I reckon a catback exhaust would be your best bang for buck mod.
Mine's dead stock, with a few little bolts on (Pacies, cat, exhaust, mandrel bent intake pipes, BA XR8 pod setup with extra AU ticky snorkel, K&N pod, & ICE leads) and to be honest, I wish I had've left it at the cat back exhaust. It's still slow as crap either way!

$500.
Loose the mug flaps, K&N panel filter, or if you can make it fit, a pod in the stock box. Total - $120 (use Ebay). Cut the front out of the airbox, as much as possible while letting in air underneath the filter, you dont want it to come in above the filter. I really didnt think this would work, but I reckon its a great mod, and best of all its free. XR6T intake, or a Tickford one if you can find one cheap - $35 2.5 inch cat back, Ive tried a couple, best sound and power came from a Lukey one. $300 BA scuff plates with Ford inserts. Just to make you feel a little more special when hopping in and out of the car. Front only, rears dont fit. - $55. Thats $510, so close enough.

Maybe the inroduction of the FG has driven the price down. Not a very good photo, but you get the idea. |
