Looking forward to the first show. So far it looks ok. Good to see a stig, but its hard to tell how good or bad it will be from a preview. Wait till the show has aired first.

Looks ok from that, will never be as good as the BBC's version but hopefully in a Footy Show sort of way, have a few good blokes that know what they are doing, having fun while giving us a look into cars that most will never see let alone steer.

is it just me or did that preview really seem to show alot of that Lotus...

As much as I want to see some Ferraris etc, the UK version has already done them all. Some good reviews of Holdens, Fords, TRD's, HSV's, FPV's, maybe a TS50 drive, and some Aussie built pre-1985 challanges sound good!

nah don't think it was skaife. he kept it on the track, didn't winge about parity and his helmet visor was flat (he has a nose bulge on the visor).

can't wait to see the show though. :

Hopefully they're not scared to give their honest opinion of the cars they test drive, unlike the other puff pieces that masquerade as car shows in Australia.

Yeah well said, and that is what the current top gear boys are known for!

I was a little disappointed to not see any turbo 6 fords (or any fords) in the preview!!

sadly i don't think it will take off that well here.

i really hope the producers are like the UK ones and just tell all the do gooders to eff off if they start kicking up a stink, also hopefully they don't have to wear helmets driving around, cause that would suck.

i think i'll stick with Clarkson, May and Hammond, you can never beat the original.

They won't have to wear helmets on public roads - that would sort of suggest they were going to be naughty wouldn't it?

Looks ok I guess, a bit miffed the "shorts" didn't show any Ford or Holden - it is Top Gear Australia after all. If we wanted to see all euro & american cars, we could just watch the existing & awesome Top Gear as we currently know it.

I've seen some biased European car fanatics who wouldn't want Fords or Holdens tested on the show. Just BMW, BMW, BMW Ferrari and Lamborghini - Ford and Holden are not "exotic" enough for them. As you say, might as well just watch the existing U.K. series.
I personally think this Australian series should go the same way as the U.K. series but have Australian cars on the show too.

This show will (within 12 months) become a running advert for Holden. Lets wait and see if I am wrong. A year from now we will evaluate what I have just said. The Holden promo exec's are even now plotting how they can use the show to their advantage. Meanwhile, the ford people are sleeping at the marketing tiller.

You mean for the first 12 months they will be running ads. lol.

Ford Marketing in 12 months: You mean we can fire the hand model and show footage of the car?

This ad that has been airing on SBS recently seems to give a good idea of what one of the challenges will be, good to see an early e-series in the challenge

Stig looks like the other "Stig" to me, as long as he can drive well and thrashes some FG FPV's around at some stage I'll be happy.

It may be the marketing they need !

Cool

I can't wait to watch it.

But they need to start with a bang (unlike the first episodes from the UK series where they sucked)

BTW, they need to test aussie cars and review them honestly not like the infomercials (i.e. the car show)

So true, looking back it's a wonder it took off at all because the first few series were pretty ordinary.

SBS just had a great snap shot of what is on Top Gear Oz - looks like we will be in for lots of fun. Utes, outback bash challanges. Heaps more too...if only the Top End was still unrestricted....

Love the UK version, and I really hope teh Oz version goes well. Spin versions rarely do the as well.

From that clip, some interesting points, helmets in the cars, pretty soft for an open paddock and bitumen IMHO, but I guess thats insurance. An Oz Stig will get the lips moving in the V8 paddock.

One aspect of the Oz version which I think has more flexibility is the location. East coast has plenty of flexibility between major cities, LOTS of open bitumen, and plenty of open country to test a variety of vehicles in their natural habbitat.

At the end of the day I would be happy with some witty content and the occasional explosion wiht some honest reviews.

Keen to view.
