A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of going to the filming of Top Gear Australia. To my surprise, Greg Murphy and James Courtney were the Stars In The Bog Standard Car.
In the end James posted a time slightly quicker than Murph, but it was all good fun. So keep an eye out for Top Gear Australia on November 10th (next week) @ 7:30 on SBS. It should be a laugh! :

After seeing it made, I would have to say that they should get rid of Charlie ( he's so up himself) and keep Warren and Steve. Steve is very audience savvy and interacts with them very well and is quite a funny little bugger when he just ad libs instead of going by the script. Warren interacts with the audience as well but not to the same extent. Where as Charlie is too busy worrying what his hair looks like. |

Where is the show filmed? I am guessing Sydney going by the track, but the set looks like a warehouse.

I agree mate, I think Charlie is a complete tool, too busy thinking about what the script says and just doesn't come accross as being natural. I guess it would be diferent if he could 'act' but he can't. But the show is getting better i think. Did they get near or beat the stigs time ??? |

Murphy will probably complain that Courtney put the alignment out on the Proton and that is why his time was bad.

It’s continuing to get better. Enjoyed last nights episode and IMO was the best yet.

I dunno...we saw hot the offroaders/softroaders could do in the first episode.
Something on the Xr5 would have been good |

The (au) stig is an australian rally driver, one of two brothers I believe. A friend was there for the filming saw who he was and told me, but I can't remember the name.

Whats with all the 4WD segments, UK TG only does it once in a blue moon and we have already had them on twice in 5 episodes. Did Murphy install sheepskin steering wheel and seat covers? |

The more I watch it the more I think they are trying for UK syndication. The shark segment and the jaunts in the outback feels to me like the typical Australian sales pitch.

So they host and film it in Sydney yet just about all the drives they do are in Vic and all the cars they drive are Vic plated as well?
I have to say the Toorak tractor was funny, although set up I believe. |

I enjoyed the 4wd parts more than the Merc cruise around Syd, and Lambo vs GT2

it is filmed in sydney, but most of the cars will be vic registered as they will be registered by the manafacturer who has supplied them, then sent them out from head office. so for example all fords will be regoed to ford head office in broadmeadows then billited out as the media requests them. It will be interesting to see if handbag cries for parity as courtney may be 1 or 2 kilos lighter, hence effecting power to weight and drag going into the corners.

i was there at this one too..
three good cars this episode, one bright orange one which, despite the cries to "start it up!!" the top gear guys wouldn't have a bar of. And two, big difference in price, but even in performance, cars. Courtneys hotlap was odd..he seemed to be looking around as to find cars/walls/tyres to crash into. Go Murph : |

I think the biggest thing missing so far on this program was to give stig a hot lap in the Ford v Holden episode in each of the cars then to put the times against the worlds supercars
