hey mate
don't hold the pump right up in there, let it 'sit' a bit to create an escape for the air. should sort itself ok then.

Yeah my AU does the same thing too.
At some servo's I can get the the nozzle to sit right and it will fill up but only for a couple of litres. Drives me crazy. I just make sure to not let my car get to low or it will take forever to fill up. I know of other AU's that have the same problem. |

On one of my old Au's a piece inside the filler neck broke off, it was the anti syphon thing behind the ULP flap, thing was hard to fill but it was on LPG so I left it alone until it had a prang and I had to remove the tank.
I changed the filler neck and was good after that |

There is the flap you can see about 30-40mm inside the filler neck, then about another 50-60mm further in, there is a series of vents around a central point that stop a hose going into the tank. These vents will swing open to allow the fuel in but not a solid hose.
To be honest with you, the only real issue I can see you having is if the plastic convoluted vent tube that runs from the right/rear/top of the tank to the filler neck has been crimped or crushed over. Dropping the tank out is not a big job, and you will be able to get a look at the vent line that I mentioned above. Daniel |
