Default VCT Inline 6 question

Is this engine factory designed for LPG usage without having to use flashlube etc...

The reason I ask is that the flashlube is no longer being delivered to the engine (dont know why) the bottle stays at the same level. Tried to get it fixed where I got the LPG installed but they are useless and it still will not feed to the engine. BTW 2001 AU Ghia.

I believe it was only the leaded petrol I6's with alloy heads (XD-XF), and the iron headed I6's that required flashlube with LPG.
I ran my XF for 7 years on LPG with no flashlube system, no problems what so ever.

Have you got some sort of setup where the flashlube is automatically fed into the engine whilst driving?

Yes, but got no pics. It's simply a small reservior with a line that "disappers" into the engine system, sorry cant explain better at this time as wife has the car LOL.

I guess what I need to know is do I need to use flash lube?

Wiki says this:

EF, EL, AU 4.0 L EFI SOHC Unleaded 157 kW (211 hp) 357 N·m (263 lb·ft) Coil-pack ignition system (EF and AU Only)

AU series II & III 4.0 L EFI SOHC Dedicated LPG 143 kW (192 hp) 362 N·m (267 lb·ft)

The answer is No, you don't need flashlube. Some people use it for peace of mind, but the LPG engines already have hardened vale seat, so valve seat recesssion in these cars is nowhere near as bad as it was in the old leaded engined cars. Would be interesting to know how many cabs run flash lube - my guess would be not many, as it's one more bit of (unnecessary) maintenance they'd be required to perform.

100% Correct, as always JC. In my time looking after cabs i must have seen literally almost 100 and i never, ever saw one with flashlube, and they all (with the exception of two) went to over half a million kays unopened.
