Hi Guys,
Currently having the fun and enjoyment of removing the dash from my auIII wagon to get at the air con motor to try and replace that. However I'm really not sure about the passenger air bag; 1) Do I have to remove the airbag to remove the whole dash 2) If so how do I go about doing that Any help would be greatly appreciated Cheers Alex

yeah i wouldnt stress about it... if had my drivers airbag out a few time and the passenger on sitting in our lounge room for a month.... for a airbag to go of you need a combination of things to happen like
- be traveling at over say 10 km/h - pull on your seatbelt - have one of the airbag sensors in the front bar pushed in anyone feel free to correct me if im wrong... Cheers Cam

if your doing it by the manual they recomend waiting for a short period 5/10 minutes after disconnecting the battery if my memory serves me correct, i was terrified of mucking around with mine, i don`t know if static electricity could them them off but i touched a metal part of body/dash before touching the back part of the air bag.
How far have you gotten BIGPEZ? |

The air bag will only go off if it gets a signal from the airbag module or if your poking wires with a test light/multimeter and short it out. Airbags have a reserve power of about 60 seconds but 5 mins will make sure.

cheers for the help guys, dash ended up coming out fine. New air con blower installed and now I am enjoying air con again! The hardest part ended up being getting the fan off the blower itself, the end of the fan has a split in it which needs to be expanded, and I may or may not have discovered that after many hours of swearing at it. But all's well that end's well
