Hey hey guys, starting at beginning my project for my 76 mk II coupe. My engine and drivetrain choice is a carby 13b from an rx7. want to know if anyone has heard of this transplant or can refer me to some one who has done this. Would love to pick their brain on the project.

Sorry I can't offer much help but sounds like an awesome project! Let us know how you go.
You could try asking over at oldschool.co.nz as they know heaps about rotors into older cars. Good luck!

rotors are to unreliable.
jump on ebay and search " escort turbo motor " There is a bloke in NSW who is selling a freshly rebuilt pinto with all the good internals, turbo , intercooler, surge tank, alloy radiator, pretty much every thing to make an easy conversion. rotors might be unreliable, but they sure can go
ive been in some tuff v8s but the rx7 i went in ,i got out shakin (non turbo rotor) im not a fan of the rotors at all,but in a little car it would be like lightning a turbo 2ltr that sounds interesting theres a mk1 escort round the corner with a 2ltr in it just collecting dust,id love to get that and stick a little hair dryer on it but the minister for war and finance doesnt think so |

Havent tried it with this new turbo or ignition system yet but it used to scream with a ser 4 13b turbo and injectors on a forged pinto |

MR Turboesky: Why are rotors unreliable? Maybe the people that build the dud ones might be unreliable?
This conversion has been done many times before. Don't think it's too hard, probably need a custom sump. I know later (maybe after '85?) rotors were mid engine mounts, as opposed to front engine mounts on the early ones, so maybe a later motor wold be the go. They are small dimension motors so should fit easy. Try www.ausrotary.com someone on there would have done it before.

i think its all about who builds it
my younger brother had a 18rg in a corona,but got his mate (apprentice mechanic)to rebuild bottom end (against wat i recommended)spun it up to 7000 rpm and spun bearings got his mate to rebuild it three times(talk about comin suka)and every time spun bearings when it finally got done right never ever had problem |
