Default Kiwi Rego plates too rude...

http://www.news.com.au/world/kiwi-li...-1225827906809

Quote:
KIWI motorists are causing offence - not through bad driving, but through rude licence plates.
Adopting the Australian licence plate system of three letters and three numbers has led to a rise in the number of rude combinations on New Zealand's streets.
Personalised plates pulled off cars include DRGDLR, QUICKE and RNUDWN, according to New Zealand Transport Agency records.
Also stripped was the number plate H8PIGS, which was displayed on a former police car.
Since the Aussie look replaced the two letter, four number combination in 2001, the transport agnecy has also banned plates that threaten police and advertise drugs, along with 25 letter combinations like ARS, BUM, CUN, DUM, FAK and FAT.
These were chosen "because they are considered as either likely offensive or undesirable by a large number of vehicle owners", the agency told The Dominion Post.

Banned plates
ANC, ARC, ARS, ***, BAD, BAG, BAT, BRA, BUM, BUT, CNT, CUM, CUN, DUM, EBA, EZE, EZY, FAG, FAK, FAT, ******, FCM, FCN, FDA, ******, FUC, FUZ
Personalised plates that were issued and later recalled include: 18750 (American slang for police murder), 4QANC, 50KILA, DALIPS, DRGDLR, H8ACC, HOBNGR, JAPSUX, KCUFME, MDAFKR, OLDKNT, PIZZDA, PLICK, QUICKE, RNUDWN, RSWYPE, SIKCNT, TAMPON, TBAGGD and WEBUYP.
Is there any plates combos in Australia that are banned or just on a case ny case basis?

Why on earth would people get number plates like that anyway? They look stupid and aren't even funny. There's a VL commo in my area with the plates "WETNOW" and everytime I see it I say wtf.

I'm wondering if I'm going to get any grief when my plate goes on my car, if it is ever finished that is.

Not so much the "MFP", but the text above and below.

The deal here is that I've paid for the plates but do not actually have them, I have to give the details of the registered car they will be going on before they actually make them, the registration on my car is on hold while I restore it.

It will be a shame if I get any hassle after all the hard work.

Plate is exactly as per avatar.

There is a drift car about town GTR I think, it has "H8GRIP"

theres a 300zx in newcastle with WETUP. I think with the way the authorities are going with the whole "stop the street racing" crap their carrying on with they'll stop issuing anything with potential race starting words, a couple from my area are 321CYA, SEEYAH and BCNYA and then theres always the multitude of commos and jap cars with the 8U as the last 2 characters.

I think QLD Transport caught onto these "antisocial" plate combos early. Since there are many cars getting around that would otherwise have them. Instead they must suffice with stickers on the rear window. Poor darlings.

VICROADS can take plates back... and they have been known to issue the same plate twice...

My good mate here has got the proof (he still has the duplicate issued plates at home)...

He ordered and received XCAV-8 (he owns excavators)...
Had them on the car for 12 months, and came time to re-register the car...
VICROADS told him that they will not register the car with those numberplates... as they are already issued to a vehicle...
He had been driving with them for 12 months... and stood firm basically and said that he ordered and received the plates, so they are his...
Basically, they told him that the car would be UNREGISTERED unless he chose a different combination for his plates... so (free of charge and transfers) he got to pick a new combination (he chose XCVA-8) and the problem was sorted...
BUT - he still has the original set that he refuses to give in...

Makes you wonder how many other duplicate sets there are out there... (and they can't say it doesn't happen - because it does!)

most of those 'offensive' plates don't even mean anything to me (or i'm too dumb to work them out). how many does average churchy doo-gooder (the only people likely to be offended) know? probably even less.

GOLD!!

I wanted NOOKIE but they knocked that one back. Vic Roads can recall any plate later found to be offensive... all it takes is one call.
