Default Bugatti Veyron SS - Still the worlds fastest car.

Bugatti Veyron Super Sports 2010 World Record Edition.

The world's fastest production car - again. Hit 268mph (431km/h) just last night to reclaim the mantle off the SSC Ultimate Aero. Allegedly driven by someone from the BBC's Top Gear team, Bugatti wanted their upgrade to get the world record so they could call it the, er, World Record edition, apparently. Which means you'll have to pay around $2 million to own it.

Production began: 2010
Top speed: 431 km/h
Output: 1200hp
0-100km/h: 2.3s
Price: Starts at $2m

Picture: Courtesy of Bugatti

Orange and black

jeez, vomit paint job much?

gotta say though, for a car to reach those kinds of speeds and remain production is very impressive, although the kind of $$ this will command will make it but a dream....

Correction to the above article- the top gear boys didnt set the record
http://www.autoblog.com/2010/07/14/c...its-259-11-mp/

Doesnt diminish the amazing feat acheived by this car. Before anyone says this is faster and thats faster - that may be the case but IMO no other car in the history of mankind has been engineered as well as the Bugatti ...NONE. now to reorganise the budget ...

agreed its a work of auto art, and there may be a tiny percentage faster but very few can do what the veyron does so effortlessly and in complete comfort.

is that $2m AUD, or $2m EUR? i thought it was $3.5AU for the 'base' model? maybe they were old numbers.........

love the orange on the rims, the paint work needs a little more shape to make the colour combination work... though on that car you could get away with strange colour combinations....

Just thinking - the title and headline is wrong, while Bugatti still makes the worlds fastest car, that car is completely different. It's not "still the worlds fastest". It's like comparing a BA XR6T to an FG F6

Anyway, incredible achievement none-the-less

I honestly didnt think the veyron couldnt get any more faster or UGLIER, BUT you cannot argue with that pace though. Still prefer the SSC

This car's just so good because it's not a performance car....look at the interior! ooooh baby....not liking the toy car paintjob though. It should be a subtle elegant one like the maroon/black combination.

It was on the latest episode of Top Gear (the one that aired Sunday in the UK).

James May did in fact get it to some incredible speed on the VW test track, however the Bugatti test driver then took it for a spin and blew the speed James May did out of the water. From memory it made it to 266mph with the Bugatti driver driving.
